The Cedar Plank Pork Chops comes courtesy of BOU, the better-for-you cube, and the brand’s Summer Grilling Series. The series is curated by Master Chef Tony Seta, who is one of only 70 Master Chefs in the U.S. certified by the American Culinary Federation. BOU’s line of bouillon cubes is designed for creative cooks at all skill levels. It uses natural, non-GMO ingredients to produce hassle free flavor at your finger-tips. These cubes are gluten-free and come in three flavors – chicken, beef and vegetable.

4 double bone in pork chops
3/4 canola oil
1/2 Worcestershire sauce
1 bou chicken bouillon cube

Steps:

  • Notes: Soak the planks for at least 2 hours in water prior to grilling. If the sides of the Cedar Plank start flaming -- spray the edges only with water (spray only the plank—do not water spray the Pork Chops).
  • Combine the salad oil, BOU Cube and Worcestershire sauce. Blend well in a blender for approximately 45 seconds.
  • Place the pork chops in a rectangular pan — Pour the BOU flavored oil over the chops & top with bay leaves. Turn the chops over to assure they are totally coated — Marinate 3-4 hours.
  • Remove from the marinade. Drain lightly & season both sides liberally with java rub.
  • Place seasoned pork chops on the warmed Green Egg Cedar Plank down the center.
  • Set the Cedar Plank on the grill over a medium high to high heat. Cook the pork chops to an internal temperature of 130-145˚F. Check temperature at 15 minutes. Serve & enjoy!

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 Thick Cut Pork Chops
1 quart water (brine)
1/3 cup kosher salt (brine)
1/3 cup molasses (brine)
2 tbsp black pepper
2 tbsp melted butter
1 cedar plank (1/4 inch thick)

Steps:

  • Combine the brine ingredients and mix well.
  • Brine the pork chops for at least four hours.
  • Remove the chops from the brine, pat dry with paper towels and season with black pepper.
  • Soak the cedar plank in water for one hour.
  • Set up your grill for direct high heat
  • Place the pork chops on the cedar plank and place on the grill.
  • Grill for 30 minutes or until the internal temperature is 145-150F.
  • Baste with melted butter and serve.

    1. Line a baking sheet with wax paper and place pork chops on it. 
    2. Combine paprika, lemon pepper, brown sugar, tarragon, basil and garlic powder. Sprinkle both sides of chops with this mixture and rub it in. Refrigerate pork, uncovered, for 2 hours or up to 12 hours. 
    3. Soak cedar plank in cold water for 2 hours.
    4. Preheat barbecue on high; reduce temperature to medium. Remove plank from water; arrange pork steaks on smooth side. Place plank on the grill; close barbecue cover and grill pork steaks 5 to 10 minutes per side.
    5. Remove plank from barbecue and serve steaks with corn on the cob and sliced fresh tomatoes which have been drizzled with balsamic vinegar and sprinkled with freshly ground black pepper.
