Hollowed out oranges are filled with brownie batter, wrapped in foil, and cooked in a campfire for a tasty camping treat.

Number Of Ingredients 5

8 whole oranges
1 Betty Crocker™ Supreme turtle brownie mix (and ingredients called for on package)
Aluminum foil
Frosted Toast Crunch™ cereal (optional)
Caramel sauce (optional)

Steps:

  • Starting 1-2 inches down on the orange, slice off the top and set aside. Using a knife cut around the edge of the flesh of the orange and hollow out the orange with a spoon. Use the orange flesh for some other use. Repeat with the other remaining oranges.
  • Prepare the brownie batter according to package directions.
  • Fill each orange with the brownie batter about an inch below the top of the orange and cover with the orange top. Wrap in heavy duty foil with at least 2 layers of foil.
  • Cook cakes in some campfire coals, rotating every once in awhile for 30-50 minutes depending on how hot your fire is.
  • Unwrap cake and top with crushed Frosted Toast Crunch™. Drizzle with caramel sauce if desired.

Number Of Ingredients 5

6 teaspoons butter
6 tablespoons brown sugar
6 canned pineapple slices
6 maraschino cherries
6 individual round sponge cakes

Steps:

  • Place 1 teaspoon butter in 1 side of sandwich iron. Hold over fire to melt; remove from fire. Carefully sprinkle 1 tablespoon brown sugar over melted butter. Top with pineapple ring; add cherry to center of pineapple. Top with cake (flat side up); close iron. , Cook pineapple side down over a hot campfire until brown sugar is melted and cake is heated through, 5-8 minutes. Invert iron to open, and serve cake on an individual plate.
