I posted this recipe as Gail's request after an extensive search in Betty Crocker's website, and the result is this excellent crust to use for cheesecakes with fruit fillings or also for fruit pies. Enjoy it.

Yield 1 cheesecake, 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 1/3 cups Gold Medal all-purpose flour
1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
2/3 cup butter or 2/3 cup margarine, softened

Steps:

  • NOTES: 2/3 cup butter equals about 1 stick + 3 tablespoons aprox. You can also add chopped pecans, walnuts or almonds to the crust ingredients for a special flavor.
  • Heat oven to 375°F Grease and flour 13 x 9" baking pan or a 12-inch pizza pan.
  • In medium bowl, mix flour and brown sugar. Cut in butter, using fork or pastry blender until crumbly. Press firmly and evenly against bottom and side of pan.
  • Bake 10 to 15 minutes or until light brown and cool.

Yield Makes 1 9-inch piecrust

Number Of Ingredients 6

1?¼ cups all-purpose flour
¾ cup pecans
¼ cup light brown sugar
½ teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1 egg, slightly beaten

Steps:

  • In the bowl of a food processor fitted with a metal blade, combine the flour, pecans, sugar, and salt until the pecans are finely chopped. Add the butter and pulse until crumbs start to form. Add the egg and pulse until the dough comes together. Chill for 20 minutes or until needed. Press 3/4 of the dough into a 9-inch pie plate, reserving the remainder for the crumble topping. Bake in a preheated 375° F oven until golden or according to your pie recipe instructions.
