If you can’t get enough of cinnamon this season or you’re craving a delicious spin on classic apple pie, this delicious Dutch apple pie is perfect for you. Pillsbury™ cinnamon roll dough that’s pressed into your pie plate lets you elevate your pie game without the extra work. Serve it for breakfast or dessert (or both)!

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 can (12.4 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Cinnamon Rolls with Original Icing (8 Count)
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons cold butter
1/4 cup chopped pecans
1 can (21 oz) apple pie filling with more fruit

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Separate dough into 8 rolls, and place cinnamon side up on counter. Let stand at room temperature 10 minutes. In small microwavable bowl, place icing from container; cover and refrigerate.
  • Meanwhile, in medium bowl, mix flour, brown sugar and cinnamon. Cut in cold butter using fork or pastry blender until crumbly. Stir in pecans; set aside.
  • Press and flatten each roll into 3 1/2-inch round. In ungreased 9-inch pie plate, place 1 roll in center; surround with remaining 7 rolls. Pat and press to stretch dough to cover bottom and side of pie plate. Make sure there are no holes between the flattened rolls. Bake 10 minutes.
  • Spoon pie filling in center of cinnamon roll crust; top evenly with streusel. Bake 20 to 23 minutes or until edges of crust and topping are golden brown. Cover edges of crust with strips of foil during last 5 to 8 minutes of baking, if necessary, to prevent excessive browning. Cool 1 hour.
  • Before serving, microwave icing uncovered on High 10 to 15 seconds or until thin enough to drizzle. Drizzle back and forth over top of pie.

1 leek
1 Royal Gala apple
4 sprigs of fresh thyme
500 g minced pork
½ teaspoon mustard seeds
500 g puff pastry
1 large free-range egg

Steps:

    1. Preheat the oven to 200°C/400°F/gas 6.
    2. Wash, trim and dice the leek, core and dice the apple, then pick the thyme leaves.
    3. Combine the pork, leek, apple, thyme leaves and mustard seeds in a bowl. Season and set aside.
    4. Roll out the pastry to 1cm thick and 34cm x 30cm. Halve lengthways and place a strip of mince down the centre of each.
    5. Brush the edges with beaten egg, roll up and seal. Brush with more egg, then cut each strip into 3 rolls.
    6. Score the tops and bake for 20 minutes, or until golden and cooked through.

    1. Preheat the oven to 200°C/425°F/gas 7. Put the currants in a bowl, cover with warm water and leave to soak.
    2. Melt the butter and 1 tablespoon of oil in a saucepan over a medium heat. Peel and finely chop the onion and garlic, then add to the pan and sauté for 8 to 10 minutes, or until softened. Meanwhile, peel core and dice the apples, then remove the crusts from the bread and blitz to breadcrumbs.
    3. Add the apple to the pan and allow to soften. Pick the thyme and sage leaves straight into the pan, then drain the currants and add to the pan along with the breadcrumbs. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, until the bread is golden brown, then remove from the pan and set aside to cool.
    4. Place the pork loin on a wooden board. Score the skin with a sharp knife in a criss-cross pattern. Next, butterfly the loin by laying it, skin-side down, on your board and making a slice down one side of the pork, where the skin slightly comes away from flesh. Continue to make long slices all the way down the pork and slowly roll it out until the end, almost like unrolling a carpet.
    5. Spread the cooled stuffing mixture over the flesh and season well with sea salt and black pepper. Gently roll the loin back into its original form, ending up with the cut side on the bottom and the skin on top.
    6. Tightly tie 3 or 4 pieces of string around the pork to make sure no stuffing leaks out. Season the skin.
    7. Place in a roasting tin, add the cider and 200ml of water and pop in the oven for 15 minutes, before turning down to 180°C/350°F/gas 4 and cooking for 1 to 1¼ hours. Trim and wash the leeks, then chop into large chunks. Shred the cabbage and add to the roasting tin along with the leek chunks for the last 45 minutes.
