My family loves this recipe, sometimes I make a lemon glaze to pour over the cake.

1 pound(s) butter
3 1/2 cup(s) sugar
1/4 teaspoon(s) salt
1 teaspoon(s) baking powder
12 - eggs
1 teaspoon(s) pure vanilla extract
4 cup(s) sifted flour (plain)

Steps:

Cream butter thoroughly, gradually add sugar, beat until light and fluffy.
Mix baking powder with flour. Add 3 tablespoons flour mixture to butter and sugar mixture; beat well.
Add remaining flour and eggs alternately until all have been added. Add Vanilla
Bake in two 10 inch tube pans for 1 hour at 325 degrees F

3 c. sifted flour
2 1/2 teaspoon baking pwdr
1/2 teaspoon salt
12 egg yolks
2 c. sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon lemon extract
1 c. cool water

Steps:

Sift above together. Beat yolks 6 min. Gradually add in above. Beat sugar and egg yolks 6 min, then add in vanilla, lemon and water. Sprinkle flour mix over large eggs and beat 2 min. Pour into ungreased tube pan. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees. Good cake to make with angel food cake to use the egg yolks.
