HONEY SIMPLE SYRUP | SOUTHERN LIVING

Honey Simple Syrup | Southern Living image

We developed this Honey Simple Syrup recipe for our Bourbon and Hard Pear Cider Cocktail, but it also works wonders for sweet tea. The difference between this recipe and a classic simple syrup is simple—we just swapped honey for sugar. The 1:1 ratio remains the same and you'll find this recipe just as easy as the original. Just add both of the ingredients to a small saucepan and heat until the honey dissolves. You'll have to allow enough time to let the combination cool completely. Simple syrups of all varieties are such a great way to upgrade your cocktails or nonalcoholic beverages. Whether you create a Honey Simple Syrup or infuse your simple syrup with mint, rosemary, or even thyme, you'll be adding a zip of fresh flavor to whatever you dream up. For more simple syrup ideas, check out our collection of Homemade Simple Syrup Recipes. We have recipes for Orange-Tarragon Syrup, Lavender-Mint Syrup, and even a spicy Strawberry-Chile Syrup. If you're looking for a fruity mix-in, try our Pineapple-Basil Syrup. If you're setting up a cocktail bar, consider making this Honey Simple Syrup and also an additional syrup that will complement its flavor nicely, such as our Spiced Apple Simple Syrup or Brown Sugar-Apple Simple Syrup. Our Honey Simple Syrup will keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks—so don't be afraid to double the recipe if you're planning on doing some cocktail-hour entertaining.
