8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter
2 tablespoons olive oil
5 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon dried garlic
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 loaf soft white bread or Texas toast bread (14-inch, 12 ounces)

Steps:

  • Arrange a rack in the middle of oven, place a rimmed baking sheet on the rack to preheat, and heat the oven to 375°F.
  • Melt the butter in a medium microwave-safe bowl until completely melted, about 1 minute. Add the olive oil, minced garlic, parsley, garlic powder, salt, and pepper and stir to combine. Set aside while you slice the bread.  
  • If unsliced, slice the bread into 1-inch-thick slices. Use a pastry or basting brush to coat both sides of each slice with the garlic butter.  
  • Place the bread on the preheated baking sheet in a single layer. Bake until golden-brown, about 12 minutes. Serve warm.

1/3 cup butter, softened
12 slices bread
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread. Cut each slice in half; place plain side down on a baking sheet. Sprinkle with garlic salt and Parmesan cheese. Broil 4 in. from the heat until lightly browned, 1-2 minutes.
