3 to 4 pounds beef top sirloin steak, cubed
2 cans (14-1/2 ounces each) chicken broth
1 pound sliced fresh mushrooms
1 can (12 ounces) regular cola
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 envelope onion soup mix
1 to 2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons dried parsley flakes
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 envelopes country gravy mix
2 cups sour cream
Hot cooked noodles
Minced fresh parsley, optional

Steps:

  • In a 5-qt. slow cooker, combine the first 9 ingredients. Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours or until beef is tender. , With a slotted spoon, remove beef and mushrooms. Place gravy mix in a large saucepan; gradually whisk in cooking liquid. Bring to a boil; cook and stir until thickened, about 2 minutes. Remove from the heat; stir in sour cream. Add beef and mushrooms to the gravy. Serve with noodles. If desired, sprinkle with parsley.

6 cups uncooked egg noodles (about 12 ounces)
1 beef top sirloin steak (1-1/2 pounds), cut into 2x1/2-in. strips
1 tablespoon canola oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons butter
1 pound sliced fresh mushrooms
2 shallots, finely chopped
1/2 cup beef broth
1 tablespoon snipped fresh dill
1 cup sour cream

Steps:

  • Cook noodles according to package directions; drain., Meanwhile, toss beef with oil, salt and pepper. Place a large skillet over medium-high heat; saute half the beef until browned, 2-3 minutes. Remove from pan; repeat with remaining beef., In same pan, heat butter over medium-high heat; saute mushrooms until lightly browned, 4-6 minutes. Add shallots; cook and stir until tender, 1-2 minutes. Stir in broth, dill and beef; heat through. Reduce heat to medium; stir in sour cream until blended. Serve with noodles.

In a clean wide skillet, heat butter. Sweat onions and add mushrooms and saute over until deep golden, about 20 minutes. While this is cooking, blend broth, mustard, heavy cream and sour cream together. Lower heat, add flour and cook stirring for a minute. The food had zero flavor. I got the steak stroganoff and it was basically egg noodles with a little bit of steak and mushrooms thrown on top and that was it. No flavor whatsoever. He got the Wisconsin Mac and said the same thing. The cheese wasn't even melted, so his Mac n cheese was elbow noodles with cheese thrown on top. We won't be coming back.
