SPOOKY SPIDER-WEB DOUGHNUTS | ASDA GOOD LIVING

Spooky spider-web doughnuts | Asda Good Living image

Our recipe is for orange iced doughnuts, but reverse the colours and make black ones, too

Provided by Asda Good Living

Total Time 1 hours our

Yield 15

Number Of Ingredients 9

200g Asda Wholemeal Bread Flour, plus extra for dusting
1tbsp caster sugar
25g unsalted butter
7g sachet Asda Easy Bake Yeast
1 egg, beaten
75ml skimmed milk
75g icing sugar
Black food colouring
Orange food colouring

Steps:

  • Put the flour and sugar into a large mixing bowl. Use your fingertips to rub in the butter until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs, then stir in the yeast. Mix in the egg.
  • Heat the milk in a pan until it is warm, not hot. Add to the flour and mix with a wooden spoon until it comes together as a soft dough. Tip onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 mins until it is smooth and elastic. Return the dough to the bowl, cover with a clean tea towel and leave to rise in a warm place for 1 hr or until doubled in size.
  • Tip the dough out, knead for 1 min until smooth, then divide into 15 pieces.
  • Roll each piece into a 10cm-long sausage. Pinch either end together to create a ring. Line a baking tray with baking paper and arrange the doughnuts 5cm apart. Cover with a clean tea towel. Leave to rise for 30 mins.
  • Preheat the oven to 190C/170C Fan/Gas 5. Bake the doughnuts for 10-12 mins until risen and golden. Cool fully.
  • Meanwhile, mix the icing sugar with a little water until you have a smooth, thick paste. Put a quarter of the icing in a separate bowl, colour with black food colouring and place in a piping bag.
  • Colour the remaining icing orange and spread onto the cooled doughnuts. Use the black icing to pipe a spider-web shape onto the doughnuts and leave to set before serving.

Spooky Chocolate Spider Web Doughnuts | Everyday Gourmet ... image

Who says Halloween treats are only for dessert? Start your day off with these cute (and super easy) baked chocolate doughnuts! They're the perfect spooky breakfast. So go ahead- trick or treat yo' self witches!

Provided by Blakely Trettenero

Yield 6 doughnuts

Number Of Ingredients 16

1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
3 tablespoons good quality cocoa powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup whole milk
1/4 cup canola oil
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup very hot water
1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
1 tablespoon butter
3/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
White Chocolate Chips

Steps:

  • Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F
  • In a bowl whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa powder, and salt until combined
  • To the dry ingredients add in the milk, canola oil, egg, vanilla extract, and hot water
  • Once the batter is combined pour it into a ziplock bag and snip a small corner off
  • Fill a greased doughnut pan 3/4 way full with the batter and put into the oven
  • Let the doughnuts bake for 7-9 minutes
  • Once cooked, turn them out on a cooling rack, and let cool
  • In a microwave safe bowl heat up the heavy whipping cream and butter for about 45 seconds in the microwave
  • To the bowl add the chocolate and vanilla extract. Keep stirring until the chocolate has melted and it's silky
  • Dip the smooth side of the doughnuts into the chocolate ganache and set aside
  • In another microwave safe bowl add 1/2 cup white chocolate chips. Microwave for 30 seconds, take it out and stir it, and put back into the microwave for another 15 seconds. After the additional 15 seconds it should be melted. If not do another 15 seconds in the microwave
  • Put the white chocolate into a ziplock bag and cut a very small piece of the corner off
  • Pipe circles onto the top, making sure not to overlap
  • Using a knife or toothpick, gently take the sharp edge and run from the center of the doughnut to the outer side, creating a line. Keep doing this the entire way around the doughnut
  • That's it! How cute and easy are these spooky doughnuts. You might want to double or triple this recipe! They will go fast
