Number Of Ingredients 10

1 (16 ounce) jar prepared hot salsa
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 lb ground sirloin (or lean ground beef)
1/2 lb ground pork
1 egg, beaten
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon garlic salt (I use fresh minced garlic and salt, but this is the original recipe)
2 tablespoons prepared steak sauce (like A1)
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 tablespoon prepared mustard

Steps:

  • Combine the salsa with the tomato sauce in a saucepan and start warming together over low heat.
  • Mix the remaining ingredients together with your hands until thoroughly combined.
  • Form the mixture into 20 1-inch balls.
  • Bake the meatballs on a cookie sheet or baking pan at 350°F for 25 minutes.
  • Transfer the meatballs to a casserole, pour the heated sauce over the top and bake at 350°F for 10 minutes.
  • Turn the oven off, leaving the dish inside, and let it set in the cooling oven for 20 to 25 minutes until serving.

This incredibly yummy meatball recipe disappears quickly at parties. I found it on the back of a package of Armour meatballs. I use more cinnamon than is called for--at least 2 tsp.

1 lb frozen meatballs, regular, appetizer sized
1 cup salsa, fresh if possible
1 cup apricot preserves
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Steps:

  • Place all ingredients in a large saucepan or crockpot.
  • Mix thoroughly with large spoon.
  • Simmer 30 minutes stovetop or 2 hours in crockpot on high.

  • Combine all of the above ingredients in a bowl and mix together well. Form into desired sized meatballs. Heat a large frying pan with 2 tablespoons of olive oil and sauté the meatballs. When the meatballs are firm they are cooked. For the Salsa: Preheat Oven 350 degrees: Slice and place the tomatoes on a baking sheet. Bake 30-35 minutes. Set aside and let the peppers and tomatoes cool. When they are cooled place in a food processor with the rest of the ingredients and give a few good chops until the desired consistency is reached.
