RESTAURANT STYLE RANCH DRESSING RECIPE - FOOD.COM

Restaurant Style Ranch Dressing Recipe - Food.com image

I have never been satisfied with store bought or ranch dressing recipes. This one is thick, fresh tasting and doesn't have that "mayonnaise" flavor. Tastes very similar to that dressing from that famed "aussie" steak restaurant if you add paprika and cayenne to it. This is my own recipe and I had a party and served it with fresh veggies and it got rave reviews. Hope you like it.

Total Time 15 minutes

Prep Time 15 minutes

Yield 2 cups

Number Of Ingredients 12

2/3 cup sour cream (add more for thicker dressing or dip)
2/3 cup mayonnaise
2/3 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon buttermilk ranch salad dressing mix
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon paprika (optional)
cayenne (optional)
season salt (optional)

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients well and chill for about an hour (I used a food processor to mix).

Buttermilk Ranch Dressing with Bibb Lettuce Recipe | Ina ... image

Provided by Ina Garten

Total Time 1 hours 10 minutes

Prep Time 10 minutes

Yield 3 cups dressing

Number Of Ingredients 15

3 scallions, white and green parts, chopped
1/2 cup chopped fresh basil leaves, lightly packed
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
11/2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon good olive oil
2 garlic cloves, chopped
2 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 cup good mayonnaise
1/2 cup Greek-style yogurt, such as Fage Total
1/2 cup buttermilk, shaken
Salad greens for 6
3 small Bibb lettuces, cut in half through the core
2 large ripe tomatoes, thickly sliced
1 red onion, sliced

Steps:

  • Place the scallions, basil, lemon juice, mustard, olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper in the bowl of a food processor fitted with the steel blade. Puree for 15 to 20 seconds to make a smooth mixture. Add the mayonnaise, yogurt, and buttermilk and blend until smooth. Transfer the dressing to a container, cover, and refrigerate for 1 hour for the flavors to develop.
  • Arrange the lettuce, tomatoes, and onion artfully on salad plates and drizzle with the dressing. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and serve.
  • Cook's Note: Ina substituted Boston lettuce for Bibb lettuce when taping this episode.

HOW DO I MAKE HOMEMADE “RESTAURANT RANCH”? : COOKING
This recipe has been one of my go-tos for awhile now. Most recipes you find online are the same aside from some differences in spices, but the key is letting it sit. If you try to eat it day of, it won't be good. Ideally if you can let it sit for a day or two before serving, it will taste exactly like store bought ranch.

WHY IS RESTAURANT RANCH DRESSING ALWAYS CRAZY ... - REDDIT
So store bought Ranch was born but is vastly inferior to fresh-made Ranch Dressing--but not many people today know what buttermilk tastes like. So, when you get it at a restaurant where buying a gallon of buttermilk is no big deal and you get fresh Ranch Dressing it tastes nothing like what you can get in a bottle.

Aug 19, 2013 · Let us make one thing perfectly, perfectly clear: the house-made buttermilk dressing you may have been served at your last family-style, farm-to-table meal, over locally grown baby lettuces and herbs was ranch dressing.
