MARYLAND CRAB BALLS - EASTERN SHORE RECIPES

Maryland Crab Balls - Eastern Shore Recipes image

Print Recipe This post may contain affiliate links so I earn a commission. Please read my disclosure for more info. Maryland Crab balls are small crab cakes that can be seen at Chesapeake Bay-themed events and fairs all summer long. They are the perfect size to pass around and enjoy. Crab ball recipes are distinctive to each family, and in ours, there is often debate about which method is superior. While some people like adding a little sweetness and flavor with minced red bell pepper and scallion, I prefer the more classic recipe of adding Ritz crackers. Every bite is a celebration! The trick to these festive little appetizers, whether you're making a dozen or a hundred, is the pre-measured mix! These scrumptious Maryland crab balls will be the hit of the party, whether it's a holiday, housewarming, cocktail, or football party. Let's get started! What you'll need to make this Maryland Crab Balls recipe These baked Maryland crab balls are a simple and enjoyable dish to prepare. The recipe is entertaining because it may be served as an appetizer or a light meal. Crabmeat Egg Ritz crackers Mustard Lemon juice Parsley Old Bay Seasoning Worchestershire sauce INGREDIENTS DIRECTIONS 1 lb Crabmeat, Back Fin1 each egg; beaten1 cup Ritz crackers; crushed1 tsp yellow mustard2 tbsp Lemon juice; fresh2 tbsp Parsley; fresh, chopped1 tsp Old Bay Seasoning1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce Place crabmeat in a mixing bowl, picking any stray shell fragments out. Pour egg mixture over the crabmeat and crackers and gently mix careful not to break up large lumps of crabmeat. Mold into golfball-sized balls and place on a cookie sheet. Bake @ 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Drizzle w/ melted butter and allow to cool, serving w/ saltine crackers For more tasty Chesapeake Bay recipes click here!

ESCARGOT, IN THE SHELL WITH HERB BUTTER RECIPE | FOOD NETWORK

Escargot, in the Shell with Herb Butter Recipe | Food Network image

Provided by Food Network

Total Time 45 minutes

Prep Time 30 minutes

Cook Time 15 minutes

Yield 4 to 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 pound escargot, in shell
1 stick butter, room temperature
1 shallot, minced
1 clove garlic, minced
2 tablespoons Italian parsley, minced
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
Salt and pepper
Serving suggestions: toasted piece of baguette or fresh tomato-basil sauce

Steps:

  • Rinse the escargot under warm water, pat shells dry with a paper towel, then set aside.
  • In a small mixing bowl, combine the butter, shallots, garlic, parsley, and lemon juice. Mix all ingredients well with a small spoon. Lightly season butter with salt and pepper, until desired taste is achieved.
  • When butter is at desired flavor, begin to scoop a small amount of herb butter in each shell of escargot. If there is extra butter left over after each shell has been filled, go back and continue the process, adding extra butter, until all the butter has been used.
  • Put the stuffed shells into the fridge and allow to sit for about 20 minutes, giving the butter enough time to solidify in shells. While the shells are in the fridge, set the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • When the butter is solid in the shells, remove from fridge and transfer shells into an oven-safe pan. If possible, avoid placing shells on a sheet tray, as we want the snails to cook in the butter as much as possible. Cook snails for 15 minutes, max.
  • Serve snails, in shells, on top of toasted pieces of baguette, or in a fresh tomato-based sauce.

SEAFOOD BOIL RECIPE | CRAB, LOBSTER, SHRIMP & CLAM RECIPE

Looking for a recipe that will be the ultimate crowd-pleaser? Look no further than our seafood boil! This one-pot wonder is packed with our fresh blue crabs, lobster, shrimp, and clams. Rounded out with sausage, potatoes, and corn on the cob all cooked together in a savory broth that’s a taste straight from New Orleans! Served with a delicious seafood boil sauce for dipping all that amazing seafood in; just don’t forget the napkins!

From fultonfishmarket.com
  • 1. Preheat a gas or charcoal grill to a moderately hot temperature, about 400°F; if using coals, wait until they turn white-hot. 2. If desired, melt the butter in a large stockpot set over the grill or over moderate heat on a stove. Add the onion, crushed garlic, and a pinch of salt and pepper, sautéing until softened, 4-5 minutes. 3. Add the Old Bay seasoning and thyme leaves; cook and stir until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Stir in the water and bring to a boil over high heat. 4. Once boiling, reduce to a steady simmer and stir in the sausage and potatoes; return to a simmer and cook until the potatoes are just tender to the tip of a knife, 10-15 minutes. 5. Add the corn to the water and return to a simmer. Cook for 5 minutes and then remove from the stockpot and pat dry with paper towels. Set aside until needed. 6. Return the seafood boil to a simmer and stir in the crabs and lobster. Cover and cook for 10 minutes. 7. In the meantime, brush the corn with oil and season with a little salt and pepper. Place the corn on the grill and cook, turning a few times, until lightly charred all over, 6-8 minutes. Remove from the grill. 8. When the crab and lobster are ready, stir in the shrimp and clams. Cover and cook until the shrimp are opaque and the clams have opened, 4-5 minutes. 9. Add the parsley, lemon juice, and plenty of salt and pepper to taste to the seafood boil. Serve straight from the pot with grilled corn on the side and seafood boil sauce on the side. (See Tips for a seafood boil sauce.)

SOFT-BOILED EGGS – INSTANT POT RECIPES
Soft-boiled Eggs I experimented with soft boiled eggs for weeks with many disappointments. They were always overdone. I kept paring the time down; the cook time, then the natural release time. Finally.... I cracked the code! WOO HOO!! I must say though, my results were slightly different in my 6-quart than they were in my 3-quart. They were softer in the 6-quart. So experiment a bit using one egg at a time until you get to the sweet spot just right for you. There are two methods for this. One is for low pressure (my favourite). The other is for high pressure - great for owners of the Lux model.

  • Same as above, but use High Pressure for 1 minute. When it beeps that it’s done, leave it for 30 seconds natural release, then flip the valve to Venting. When the pin drops, immediately put the eggs under cold running water for a few seconds to halt the cooking process. Again, try one egg. You can leave them for a few more seconds of natural release if you like them a little firmer.
