Splatter Paint Daisy Cookies Recipe - Tablespoon.com image

Who has time to roll, cut and frost? These cookies are made and decorated in a big pan, then cut out with a cookie cutter. Viola!

Provided by Michelle P

Total Time 1 hours 0 minutes

Prep Time 45 minutes

Yield 12

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 rolls (16.5 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Sugar Cookie Dough
1 tub Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy white frosting, divided
Betty Crocker™ decorating decors and candy sprinkles
Spray food coloring
12 large nonpareils (for flower centers)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven per cookie package directions.
  • Pat the cookie dough into a 13x17 cookie sheet (one with a lip--these rise and move about a bit!).
  • Bake for about 15 minutes, until top is dry and edges are golden brown.
  • Remove from oven and allow to cool.
  • Frost top with white frosting, reserving a tablespoon or two to attach the nonpareils later and a bit more if desired for drizzling over the top.
  • Decorate as desired with sugars and decors. If desired, thin a bit of white frosting to drizzle over colored decorations to achieve the look shown.
  • Allow frosting to set for an hour or two, until no longer runny. Cut with cookie cutter. Attach nonpareils with the reserved frosting.
  • Bag! Serve! Enjoy!

SPATTER PAINT SUGAR COOKIES RECIPE | BON APPÉTIT

Spatter Paint Sugar Cookies Recipe | Bon Appétit image

These tender, buttery sugar cookies use cold butter (no waiting around for yours to soften!) and come together in a food processor, so you can go from zero to dough in minutes.

Provided by Kendra Vaculin

Yield Makes about 4 dozen

Number Of Ingredients 11

¾ cup (150 g) sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. Diamond Crystal or ½ tsp. Morton kosher salt
2? cups (292 g) all-purpose flour, plus more for surface
1 cup (2 sticks) chilled unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
1 large egg
2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 cups powdered sugar
6 Tbsp. milk
2 colors gel or other food coloring of choice
Two different 2”–3” cookie cutter shapes of choice

Steps:

  • Pulse sugar, baking powder, salt, and 2? cups (292 g) all-purpose flour in a food processor to combine. Add butter and pulse until mixture looks sandy and holds together when you squeeze some between your fingers. Add egg and vanilla and pulse just until dough comes together in a large clump (do not overmix). Turn out dough onto a surface and divide into 2 pieces. Form each into a 1”-thick disk and wrap in plastic. Chill at least 2 hours.
  • Place racks in upper and lower thirds of oven; preheat to 350°. Roll out 1 dough disk on a well-floured surface to ¼” thick (keep remaining dough in fridge until ready to use). Punch out shapes with cutters dipped in flour and divide cookies between 2 parchment-lined baking sheets, spacing about 1” apart (use a thin spatula to transfer if needed). Gather together any dough scraps, wrap in plastic, and chill 15 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, bake cookies, rotating baking sheets top to bottom and front to back halfway through, until lightly golden around the edges (cookies should be soft; they will firm up once cool), 10–12 minutes. Let cool on baking sheets, then transfer to a wire rack. Repeat process with scraps and remaining disk of dough.
  • Whisk powdered sugar and milk in a shallow bowl until smooth (icing should be about the consistency of heavy cream). Working one at a time, hold edges of cookies and dip top sides into icing to fully coat. Place on a wire rack set inside a baking sheet.
  • Pour half of remaining icing into a small bowl. Color each half of icing with a different color, stirring to combine. Using the end of a spoon or a fork, spatter cookies with colored icing. Let sit until icing is set, at least 2 hours. Do ahead: Dough can be made 2 days ahead. Keep chilled or freeze up to 1 month ahead. Cookies can be decorated 5 days ahead. Store airtight at room temperature.

Aug 17, 2012 · Start with whatever color you want…and water down your icing so it has more of a watery consistency. Dab a little on a fork and fling it towards the cookies. Split…splat!! I also did drops here and there…then with a tooth pick…I would drag a little of the paint drop until I formed a paint splatter.
