CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES: MY MOM’S RECIPE – THE MOM BOB

Chocolate Chip Cookies: My Mom’s Recipe – The Mom Bob image

An old-fashioned cookie recipe passed down to us by Mrs. Vincent. She specified that it should always be mixed by hand in a metal bowl using a wooden spoon. Since it's made with butter-flavored shortening, you don't have to spend time waiting for a stick of butter to soften. It's a very fuss-free cookie recipe that you'll memorize and enjoy for years and years.

Cook Time 20 minutes

Yield 36

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 stick butter-flavored Crisco
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup light brown sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp vanilla
2 eggs
1 bag chocolate chips (any variety, OR about 2 cups of mix-ins)
3 cups flour (lightly measured, you may not use it all )

Steps:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°.
  • In a metal bowl, cream together the sugars and shortening using a wooden spoon.
  • Add in the salt, soda, eggs, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
  • Add in the chocolate chips (or preferred mix-ins), and incorporate.
  • Add the flour one cup at a time until your dough releases from the sides of the bowl, and starts to form a ball. Don't add too much flour; you may not need to full three cups. Add flour until the dough is wet to the touch, sticking together, but when you touch it with your finger it is not sticky.
  • Using a portion scoop about 2 tbsp in size, portion out the cookies 12 to a standard size baking sheet. 3 to a row, 4 to a column.
  • Bake for 8-11 minutes, or until they're a little golden.
  • Cool and store in an airtight container for up to a week.
