Copycat Recipe of Olive Garden Lasagna Classico. My wife loves this version of lasagna. Every special occasion, we had to go to Olive Garden, just for the Lasagna and breadsticks

Total Time 1 hours 30 minutes

Prep Time 30 minutes

Cook Time 1 hours

Yield 1 13x9 in Pan, 12-16 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 16

1/3 cup olive oil
1 lb ground beef
1 teaspoon cracked black pepper, plus extra for coating beef
1 medium onion, chopped small
1 red pepper, chopped small
1 green pepper, chopped small
6 garlic cloves, minced
5 leaves basil, finely chopped, plus leaves for garnish
1 tablespoon oregano, Chopped
1 (14 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (8 ounce) can tomato paste
2 teaspoons salt
1 (8 ounce) box dry lasagna noodles
1 pint ricotta cheese
1 cup parmesan cheese, grated, plus extra for garnish
1 cup mozzarella cheese, Grated

Steps:

  • Heat the oil in a large pot on high heat. Add the beef and coat it with pepper. Cook through, about 5 to 6 minutes. Remove the beef from the pot and add in the onions, peppers, 1/2 of the garlic, and herbs. Turn the heat to medium and cook the vegetables until soft. Add in the tomato sauce and paste. Season with salt and pepper and let simmer for 1 hour.
  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  • Add the dry lasagna to the boiling water and cook until al dente. Remove and place on baking sheet coated with olive oil. Toss the pasta to coat it completely.
  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  • In a bowl, mix the ricotta and Parmesan well. In a 9 by 12-inch baking dish, begin laying down the pasta. Smooth on a layer of the cheese mixture and spoon on meat sauce. Add another layer of pasta and repeat this process until you reach the top of the dish. The final layer should be cheese mixture and fresh mozzarella.
  • Cover with foil and place in the oven. Bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and let brown for 15 more minutes.
  • To serve, spoon on meat sauce on a warm plate. Place a large square of lasagna on the pool of sauce. Top with Parmesan and a basil leaf.

Make this classic lasagna recipe zestier by using hot Italian sausage or a little milder with regular Italian sausage. Don't be scared off by the long cooking time. The wait is well worth it. It's a great dish to make for a crowd and easy to adjust for varying tastes. The leftovers are even better when reheated the next day.

CLASSIC LASAGNA RECIPE: HOW TO MAKE IT
A definite crowd-pleaser, this classic lasagna is thick, rich and meaty with lots of cheese—just the way I like it. Even though my parents were Hungarian, I have a weakness for savory Italian foods like this. —Suzanne Barker, Bellingham, Washington

OLIVE GARDEN LASAGNA CLASSICO RECIPE | TOP SECRET RECIPES
Crafting a clone of Olive Garden’s signature Lasagna Classico became the perfect opportunity to create a beautiful multi-layered lasagna hack recipe that uses up the whole box of lasagna noodles and fills the baking pan all the way to the top. This Top Secret Recipe makes a lasagna that tips the scale at nearly 10 pounds and will feed hungry mouths for days, with every delicious layer copied directly from the carefully dissected Olive Garden original. I found a few credible bits of intel in a video of an Olive Garden chef demonstrating what he claims is the real formula on a midday news show, but the recipe was abbreviated for TV and the chef left out some crucial information. One ingredient he conspicuously left out of the recipe is the secret layer of Cheddar cheese located near the middle of the stack. I wasn’t expecting to find Cheddar in lasagna, but when I carefully separated the layers from several servings of the original dish, there was the golden melted cheesy goodness in every slice. This clone recipe will make enough for 8 big portions, but if you make slightly smaller slices this is easily enough food to fill twelve lasagna-loving bellies. If you like lasagna, you're going to love this version. This recipe was our #2 most popular in 2020. Check out the other four most unlocked recipes for the year: Rao's Homemade Marinara Sauce (#1), King's Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Sweet Rolls (#3), Pei Wei Better Orange Chicken (#4), Chipotle Mexican Grill Carnitas (#5). CLASSIC LASAGNA RECIPE | SOUTHERN LIVING
When you're in need for a comforting dish, this Classic Lasagna is the perfect recipe. Originally from our May 1982 issue, this vintage recipe has been around a while, but we come back to it again and again. We love the cheese combinations of this recipe: shredded mozzarella, cottage cheese or ricotta, Parmesan, and mozzarella slices. Yes, each cheese has a reason to be in this recipe. If you listen to Latria Graham's mother, you'll know that cottage cheese is far superior than ricotta. Latria, a writer and fifth-generation farmer in Spartanburg, SC, and her family have made this recipe every year for Christmas. Make this Classic Lasagna for your family and make some memories in the process.

CLASSIC LASAGNA WITH MEAT SAUCE RECIPE | MYRECIPES
This simple lasagna is perfect for when you're short on time, but craving a comforting meal. Ready in just over an hour, it requires only 50 minutes of cooking in the oven.Extra-lean ground beef (which sometimes cooks up dry) works well here because it's combined with marinara to keep it moist. For a quick and easy variation, feel free to use 9 whole lasagna noodles instead of 6 broken noodles, using 3 noodles per layer. You also can sub fresh basil leaves for the parsley sprinkled on at the end.
