This is really a great recipe! It is fast, simple and you usually have the ingredients on hand. I never use a mix! I got this from my sister years ago, and I have shared it many times.

Total Time 10 minutes

Prep Time 5 minutes

Cook Time 5 minutes

Yield 9 small pancakes

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 egg
3/4 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine, melted
1 cup flour
1 tablespoon sugar (or 1/2 teaspoon honey or molasses)
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Beat egg until fluffy.
  • Add milk and melted margarine.
  • Add dry ingredients and mix well.
  • Heat a heavy griddle or fry pan which is greased with a little butter on a paper towel.
  • The pan is hot enough when a drop of water breaks into several smaller balls which 'dance' around the pan.
  • Pour a small amount of batter (approx 1/4 cup) into pan and tip to spread out or spread with spoon.
  • When bubbles appear on surface and begin to break, turn over and cook the other side.

HOMEMADE KRISPY KREME DONUTS – LIFE WITH JANET

Homemade Krispy Kreme Donuts – Life with Janet image

Provided by abdel

Prep Time 20 minutes

Cook Time 25 minutes

Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 13

2 cups All-purpose Flour
¼ cup Whole Milk (lukewarm)
¼ cup Water (lukewarm)
2 tsp Dry Active yeast
1 egg (at room temperature)
3 tbsp Granulated sugar
¼ cup Butter (at room temperature)
A pinch of Kosher salt
Oil for frying
2 cups Confectionary Sugar
¼ cup Whole Milk (lukewarm)
2 tbsp Heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla

Steps:

  • In a mixing bowl, add lukewarm water, milk, 1 tbsp of flour, 1 tbsp of sugar, and yeast. Mix and let it sit in a warm place for 10 minutes until the surface starts to get bubbly and frothy.
  • In a separate bowl, add the remaining flour and salt.
  • Add butter gradually and crumble the mixture with your hands until you get a sand-like texture.
  • Add sugar, egg, and yeast mixture to the flour and knead it for 5 minutes into a smooth dough. You can use a stand mixer with a dough hook or use your hands for kneading.
  • Dust a little flour on a clean work surface and take the dough out.
  • Knead the dough for 5 to 8 more minutes. See if you poke into the dough, it springs back, and then your dough is ready.
  • Lightly oil a clean bowl and place the dough in it.
  • Oil the surface of the dough as well.
  • Cover the bowl with a clean cloth or plastic wrap and let it sit at room temperature for an hour or until double in size.
  • After proofing, take the dough out on the clean and lightly dusted surface.
  • Divide the dough into four equal parts and form dough balls from each.
  • Now roll out the dough into a sheet that is about ½ inch thick.
  • Cut out donuts with donut holes or donut balls.
  • Cover the donuts with the cloth and let them sit for 30 to 40 minutes for another rise.
  • Now heat the oil at around 375-degree F.
  • Carefully fry the donuts for about 70 to 90 seconds per side or until the donut is golden brown. See, once you drop the donuts, they will start floating. If not, let them rise for 15 minutes more before frying.
  • Drain the donuts on a cooling rack.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the icing by mixing lukewarm milk with sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla.
  • Glaze the donuts by piping them or by dipping them in icing.
  • Serve and enjoy the fluffiest donuts!

DUNKIN' DONUTS COPYCAT RECIPE | TOP SECRET RECIPES
As he worked long, hard days at a shipyard in Hingham, Massachusetts, during World War II, William Rosenberg was struck with an idea for a new kind of food service. As soon as the war ended, Rosenberg started Industrial Luncheon Services, a company that delivered fresh meals and snacks to factory workers. When Rosenberg realized that most of his business was in coffee and donuts, he quit offering his original service. He found an old awning store and converted it into a coffee-and-donut shop called The Open Kettle. This name was soon changed to the more familiar Dunkin' Donuts, and between 1950 and 1955 five more shops opened and thrived. The company later spread beyond the Boston area and has become the largest coffee-and-donut chain in the world. Today, Dunkin' Donuts offers fifty-two varieties of donuts in each shop, but the most popular have always been the plain glazed and chocolate-glazed yeast donuts.
