Ingredients

4 hot dogs
¼ cup mayonnaise
¼ cup mustard
4 hamburger buns, toasted
4 tomato slices
4 onion slices
4 lettuce leaves

Steps:

Cut a slit lengthwise through each hot dog, cutting to, but not through, other side. Place hot dogs, flat sides down, in a skillet, and cook 2 minutes on each side or until browned. Drain hot dogs on paper towels.
Stir together mayonnaise and mustard; spread evenly on hamburger bun halves. Place 1 hot dog on bottom half of each bun; top each evenly with tomato, onion, lettuce, and remaining bun halves.

6 hot dogs (preferably with natural casing)
Vegetable or peanut oil for frying
6 hot dog buns

Steps:

In a large deep skillet over medium heat, heat about 3/4" oil to 350°F (you want enough to pour in enough oil to almost entirely cover the hot dogs). Working in batches, fry hot dog for 2 to 5 minutes, until blistered and split (but not burnt). For even cooking, turn hot dogs every 20 seconds or so. Remove cooked hot dogs to a paper towel lined plate. Serve hot dogs in buns immediately with your favorite toppings and condiments.
