Best recipe I've ever found! As a professional drinking-ista, I've collected my favorite drink recipes from restaurants and bars over the years from around the globe. This comes compliments of Cafe' Iguana in Denver Colorado... home of one of my faves, the Yucatan Margarita. This FRESH mix is the key to any truly good margarita. Life is too short to drink neon yellow store bought sweet and sour mix!

Cook Time 10 minutes

Yield 8 cups

Number Of Ingredients 4

Ingredients

3 cups water
3 cups sugar
2 cups fresh lemon juice
2 cups fresh lime juice

Steps:

Combine water and sugar in a large sauce pan.
Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
Bring to a boil and remove from heat.
Cool.
Once cooled mix syrup, lemon and lime juices in a pitcher.
Chill.
Can be made up to a week in advance and kept in the fridge.

Ingredients

3 cups water
3 cups sugar
2 cups fresh lemon juice
2 cups fresh lime juice

Steps:

Combine water and sugar in large saucepan. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Bring to boil. Cool syrup.
Mix syrup, lemon juice and lime juice in pitcher. Chill until cold. (Can be made 1 week ahead. Cover; keep chilled)

Summer is almost here and I'm looking forward to some fun summery drinks. I'm not getting to the grocery store as often as I used to because of the Covid virus, so decided to try some homemade versions of sweet and sour mix. I tried 3-4 different recipes and although they all use the same ingredients, I found that there was a different taste with each one because they all used different proportions of the same 4 ingredients. I played around and came up with this one that I like the most. It's simple.....and cheap......makes a smaller amount, and you don't need to run to the store!
