8 medium white fish fillets or 4 large white fish fillets
110 g plain flour or 110 g self raising flour
1/4 teaspoon salt

  • Beat to a smooth batter, unbeaten egg, butter and milk. Then add the flour and salt mixture.
  • Coat 2 pieces of fish with batter.
  • Lift into the pan with a fork or kitchen tongs.

  • Remove from the pan and drain on absorbent kitchen paper.
  • Repeat with the remaining fish.
  • Garnish with lemon wedges.

Crispy Fried Fish Recipe - BettyCrocker.com image

Bring back the Friday night fish fry tradition with this updated fried fish recipe. While you could try out any old recipe for fried fish, this one has a secret ingredient: Progresso™ panko crispy bread crumbs help the crust stay extra-crisp while the fish remains moist. The end result is amazingly flaky, crispy fish. This dish is perfect for a tasty and quick dinner to kick off the weekend!

Provided by BETTYCROCKER.COM

Total Time 20 minutes

Prep Time 20 minutes

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/3 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons seasoned salt
2 eggs
1/2 cup dark beer or water
1 1/2 cups Progresso™ panko crispy bread crumbs
Peanut or corn oil for frying
1 1/2 lb fish fillets (walleye, cod, whitefish or tilapia)

Steps:

  • In shallow dish, mix flour and seasoned salt. In medium bowl, beat eggs and beer with whisk. Place bread crumbs in large resealable food-storage plastic bag.
  • In electric skillet or deep fryer, heat about 2 inches oil to 350°F. Coat both sides of fish fillets with flour mixture, then dip in beer mixture, letting excess drip back into bowl. Place 1 or 2 pieces of fish at a time in plastic bag with bread crumbs; seal bag and shake to coat completely.
  • Fry fish in batches in hot oil about 4 minutes, turning once, until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot.

DEEP-FRIED COD - HOW TO COOK MEAT
Like many white fish, cod are often fried in a batter made from beer and flour. The beer batter recipe I am using to fry cod is a simple one made of six ingredients listed to the left. As with almost any recipe, this one is flexible in the quantities and varieties of spices used. The consistency must be just right—thick enough to stick to the fish and thin enough that the batter doesn't get too clumpy and thick when fried.

MY SECRET FISH COATING RECIPE - RECIPEZAZZ.COM
Oct 31, 2011 · This is a recipe I came up with after hosting many annual fish fries at our summer camp.
