This sauce was my departed FIL's. He was quite proud of his smoked pork. It was a day long process cooking the meat while this sauce simmered inside. He would shred the pork, place on a burger bun, drizzle with this sauce, plop on some coleslaw (Mayo base) put the lid on the bun, then wait for the compliments. They were never in short supply!

Number Of Ingredients 9

32 ounces white corn syrup
38 ounces barbecue sauce (any kind)
3 teaspoons cayenne pepper, heaping
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed
4 teaspoons cornstarch
2 cups water
1 cup red wine vinegar

Steps:

  • Dissolve cornstarch in water.
  • Place all ingredients in large pot and simmer at least 30 minutes.
  • Pureed fruit or fruit juice may be added.
  • This makes a large batch of sauce. Leftovers should be refrigerated. If I am having guests I'll send a small jar home with them if they like the sauce.

This BBQ sauce has just the right bite. It definitely has some heat for those who like it ... but not enough to scare others away.

1/2 large yellow onion, chopped
3 - green onions, chopped
1/2 cup(s) Vlasic hot pepper rings, chopped and 2 tablespoons juice
2 bottle(s) Kraft hickory smoke bbq sauce
1 3/4 cup(s) packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon(s) French's prepared yellow mustard
1 teaspoon(s) garlic powder
2 teaspoon(s) ground black pepper
4 teaspoon(s) tabasco sauce
8 ounce(s) honey

Steps:

  • In a deep saucepan, sauté both types of onions in a little olive oil until tender over medium-high heat.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients and bring to a boil. Lower heat to medium-low and continue to simmer until mixture has thickened, about 30 minutes. Stir occasionally. Keep refrigerated.

  • Preheat oven to 425°. In a large bowl, combine egg, stuffing mix, milk, cheese and 1 tablespoon barbecue sauce. Add beef; mix lightly but thoroughly. Shape into four 4x2-in. loaves in a foil-lined 15x10x1-in. baking pan., Bake until a thermometer reads 160°, 15-20 minutes. Spread with remaining barbecue sauce before serving.
    Freeze option: Individually wrap cooled meat loaves in plastic and foil, then freeze. To use, partially thaw meat loaves in refrigerator overnight. Unwrap loaves; reheat in a greased 15x10x1-in. baking pan in a preheated 350° oven until loaves are heated through and a thermometer inserted in center reads 165°. Top each with 1 tablespoon barbecue sauce before serving.
