Homemade Artisan Crackers Recipe | Allrecipes image

Making your own artisan crackers is extremely easy, and so tasty that they're well worth the effort! Wrap them up in a clear bag tied with a pretty bow for gift giving that is sure to impress. Who makes their own crackers?!

3 cups all-purpose flour
? cup flax seeds
? cup chia seeds
1?½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
¼ teaspoon ground dried chipotle pepper
½ cup unsalted butter
1 cup water, or as needed
2 tablespoons olive oil

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Grease 2 baking sheets.
  • Stir flour, flax seeds, chia seeds, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried chipotle pepper powder together in a large bowl. Cut butter into flour mixture with a pastry cutter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Stir water and olive oil into butter-flour mixture with a fork until dough sticks together and pulls easily off the sides of the bowl. Divide dough into 2 portions.
  • Turn 1 dough portion out onto a floured work surface and roll out as thin as possible. Cut dough into squares and place on prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining dough.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until crackers are golden and crispy, about 8 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Warning!!! These are addictive!!! and super easy! These are also slightly spicy, the original recipe called for 2 Tbsp pepper flakes..I halved it, both of my YOUNG kids love them and do not think they are too spicy :)

1 box(es) saltine crackers (the cheaper the better)
1 package(s) dry ranch dressing
1 1/4 cup(s) pure vegetable oil
1 tablespoon(s) crushed red pepper flakes

Steps:

  • Stack 2 sleeves of crackers into a gallon size zip lock bag. In a large measuring cup, mix the oil, dry ranch and pepper flakes and pour half over the crackers, gently mix the oil over the crackers.
  • Put last two sleeves of crackers in the bag, pour remaining oil over crackers, mix gently. Continue to turn the bag once every 15 minutes for an hour. THe crackers will absorb all the seasoning. ENjoy!! :)
