1 1/4 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup pecans, chopped
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup toffee pieces, crushed

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375.
  • Cream shortning, butter, and sugars.
  • Add in eggs and vanilla.
  • Stir in remaining ingredients.
  • Drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto an ungreased baking sheet.
  • Bake 8-10 minutes (till light brown).
  • Let cool slightly efore removing from sheet.

1 cup packed brown sugar
½ cup buttermilk
½ cup shortening
¼ cup honey
1 egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped white chocolate

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a large bowl, mix brown sugar, buttermilk, shortening, honey, and egg. Stir in flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Stir in chocolate chips and chopped white chocolate.
  • Drop dough by level 1/4 cupfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake 12 to 14 minutes, or until edges are golden brown. Cool for 4 minutes, and remove from cookie sheets.

I turned the grease on to make my french fries then I left the kitchen and began to watch some television. I forgot about turning the oil on, and next thing I know the smoke detector was going crazy. I rush into the kitchen and there was a flame on top of the hot grease... Of course in a panic, me, the bright one, throws water on the flaming grease and yep, there was a mini fire in the kitchen. My mother comes in and sees this fire, she grabs some flour and throws it over the fire which put it out, then she threatened to put me out. I tried to clean up the mess before my grandmother could see it, but she has that wisdom of the old and knew something wasn't right in her kitchen. I had to come clean and surprisingly she was not upset at all. She explained that only when you're a pro can you leave the kitchen while cooking because you know when to come back. Grandma decided to teach me some basics in food, she told me what ingredients to grab, how to mix it and before I knew it I was baking cookies and they were goooood!!!! The more I baked the better I got in the kitchen. This recipe is the 1st thing I learned how to prepare, enjoy!!!!
