CARAMEL APPLE BLONDIES RECIPE - FOOD FANATIC

These caramel apple blondies are soft and chewy and filled with apples, cinnamon and salted caramel sauce. They mix up quickly and disappear just as fast!

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
1 large egg
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup chopped apples, peeled and diced small (1 medium apple)
1/4 cup salted caramel sauce

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Prepare an 8x8 inch baking dish by lining it with parchment paper, allowing the paper to overhang the dish by a couple inches on each side so that the bars can be lifted out after baking. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and the sugars until smooth. Add the egg and vanilla whisk together. Add the flour, salt and cinnamon and stir until just combined. Fold in the chopped apples. Pour the half of the batter into the prepared pan and spread it as evenly as possible - it will be thick. Drizzle the caramel sauce over top of the batter. Cover the caramel sauce with spoonfuls of the remaining batter, spreading it out as evenly as you can. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the blondies are golden brown, and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with only damp crumbs on it, but no wet batter. Set the pan on a wire rack to cool completely. Once cool, the bars can be lifted out of the pan using the parchment paper and cut into 16 squares. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.

This cast-iron skillet dessert has all the flavor of classic caramel apples.

3 pounds Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
2 cups brown sugar
1?½ cups plus 2 Tablespoons flour
¼ cup butter
¾ cup pecans
1?½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
3 eggs
3 Tablespoons Bourbon
Pie Crust

Steps:

  • Combine apples with ½ cup brown sugar and 2 Tablespoons. flour. Mix together to coat the apples as evenly as you can.
  • Next, melt butter in a saucepan.  
  • Take 1 ½ cups flour, 1 ½ cups brown sugar, pecans, baking powder, salt, eggs, Bourbon, and melted butter and mix together in a separate bowl.
  • Line a cast-iron skillet with pie crust. Pinch sides of the crust to make sure they sit against the edges of the skillet. Add three quarters of the apple mixture to the skillet. Pour other mixture into skillet on top of layer of apples. Pour the rest of the apple mixture on top.
  • Bake at 350ºF for 1 hour and 10 minutes.
  • Drizzle with Apple Cider Caramel Sauce. Slice while in cast-iron skillet and serve.
