BREAD PUDDING PIE RECIPE: HOW TO MAKE IT - TASTE OF HOME

- Preheat oven to 425°. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to a 1/8-in.-thick circle; transfer to a 9-in. pie plate. Trim crust to 1/2 in. beyond rim of plate; flute edge.
Arrange bread in bottom of pie crust. In a large bowl, whisk eggs, milk, sugar and vanilla; pour over bread. Sprinkle with nutmeg and dot with butter. Bake 10 minutes. Reduce oven setting to 350°., Bake until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean, 45-50 minutes longer. Cover edge loosely with foil during the last 15 minutes if needed to prevent overbrowning. Remove foil. Cool on a wire rack 1 hour. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours before serving.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x5 loaf pan.
- In a medium bowl, use a potato masher to break up apples in the filling; set aside. In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter, white sugar, and brown sugar. Stir in eggs, apples, and vanilla extract until well blended. Sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Stir into apple mixture, then stir in raisins and walnuts. Pour batter into prepared pan.
- Bake in preheated oven for 60 minute, until a toothpick inserted into center of the loaf comes out clean. Let bread cool in pan for 15 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

- "Put ice cubes in a glass or cup and fill with cold water. Do not sift flour. In the bread machine, put flour and salt and start the dough cycle. Measure and add the shortening, such as Crisco. Let the machine continue to mix until it seems granular, or half the size of peas, and then add the water 1 T at a time. When the humidity is high you will need less, otherwise in the winter when the air is dry, you will need it all. By adding it 1 T at a time lets you see where the dough is. If it seems not wet, then stop and let the machine finish rolling it to a smooth finish, you may need to use a rubber spatula to help it along or push it down to keep it rolling. When it seems smooth then take it out roll into 2 balls and wrap in plastic wrap or a cover container and put in fridge to chill. This makes crust for a 2 crust pie . If it seems not enough, use 1 1/2 recipe. Roll out onto a slightly floured board.Start in the middle of the dough and make a dent, then roll once forward and then towards you, turn half way and repeat this until it is uniform and the size for the pan. - Preheat the oven to 375°F. In a 9- or 10-inch cast-iron skillet or sauté pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers. Add the onion and sauté for 1 minute before adding the garlic. Sauté for another minute and add the ground beef and pork, breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon and stirring until the meat is brown. Drain off any excess fat and stir in the chili seasoning, diced tomatoes, and tomato paste. Mix over medium heat for 1 minute, then pour in the chicken broth. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. While the meat simmers, make the corn bread mixture: Stir together the Jiffy mix, eggs, and milk in a mixing bowl until just combined (do not overmix). Stir ½ cup of the frozen corn and the cheese into the corn bread batter and set aside. Stir the remaining ½ cup of corn and the kidney beans into the meat mixture.
