If you’re looking for a quick dinner and a fresh take on burger night, look no further. These simple lamb burgers come together quickly with just a few ingredients. A salt-and-pepper patty gets quickly grilled, then topped with a gooey slice of Havarti cheese. All that’s left to do is stir onion-y chives and peppery basil into some mayo and you’ve got dinner. To bulk it up, serve with roasted sweet potato wedges, which play well with the juicy lamb and salty cheese, or throw together a quick tomato-cucumber salad. Pair with a tart white wine that can cut through the dish’s richness.

1 pound ground lamb
½ teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Canola oil, for grill grates
4 1-oz. slices Havarti cheese
¼ cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives
1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice (from 1 lemon)
4 Bibb lettuce leaves
4 kaiser rolls, split and lightly toasted

Steps:

  • Combine lamb, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl. Shape into 4 (½-inch thick) patties.
  • Preheat grill to medium (350°F to 400°F) and oil grates. Grill patties, flipping once, until a thermometer inserted in thickest portion registers 160°F, about 4 minutes per side. Top each patty with cheese during the last minute of cooking. Let patties rest for 5 minutes.
  • Stir mayonnaise, chives, basil, and lemon juice in a small bowl. Assemble burgers with lettuce, patties, and mayonnaise mixture on toasted rolls.

Ground lamb is very tasty and it makes for a great lamb burger. Lamb is a bit more expensive than beef or ground veal but once in a while lamb is a tasty change.

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 lbs lean ground lamb
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon pepper
diced Spanish onion
1/2 cup chopped parsley

Steps:

  • In medium mixing bowl combine ground lamb, garlic powder, salt, pepper, onion, and fresh parsley. You can add th yolk from one egg if desired.
  • Combine all ingrediets and mix by hand for about a minute or so. You now want to start forming the lamb into hamburg type patties. Set the oven on broil and place burgers on oven broiler rack.
  • Cook each side of burgers for about 8 -10 minutes. You want to make sure your lamb burgers are completely cookd before serving. You can serve your lamb on a hamburger bun or just eat it plain. Enjoy!
