3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 large egg
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour*
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup coarsely chopped nuts
1 bag (12 oz) semisweet chocolate chips (2 cups)

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375°F.
  • In large bowl, beat sugars, butter, vanilla and egg with electric mixer on medium speed, or mix with spoon. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt (dough will be stiff). Stir in nuts and chocolate chips.
  • On ungreased cookie sheet, drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown (centers will be soft). Cool 1 to 2 minutes; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.

1 package (16 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Ready to Bake!™ Sugar Cookie Dough (24 Count)*
1/3 cup unsweetened baking cocoa
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons powdered sugar

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • In large bowl, break up cookie dough. Add cocoa and flour; stir with spoon or hands until well blended. (DO NOT EAT RAW COOKIE DOUGH AFTER COMBINING WITH FLOUR.)
  • Shape into 28 (1-inch) balls. Roll each ball in 1/4 cup of the powdered sugar (reserve remaining powdered sugar). Place balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake 9 to 12 minutes or until tops are cracked and edges are set. Cool 2 minutes; remove from cookie sheet to cooling racks. Dip tops of each cookie in remaining 2 tablespoons powdered sugar. Cool completely, about 20 minutes.

Insert #3 round tip into another pastry or plastic bag; fill with green frosting. Pipe a leaf under each rose.
