Best Bacon Wrapped Little Smokies Recipe - How to Mak… image

Bacon wrapped around little smokies and then sprinkled with some brown sugar turns into the most addicting thing ever. You should probably go ahead and make two batches because these will go FAST.

(12-oz.) package little smokies

1 lb.

bacon, cut into thirds

1/2 c.

packed brown sugar

1/2 tsp.

garlic powder

1/4 tsp.

cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400° and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Wrap each little smokie with a piece of bacon and secure with a toothpick. Place on prepared pan.  In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, garlic powder, and cayenne. Sprinkle over little smokies.  Bake until bacon is crisp, 30 to 35 minutes.

i take this to our christmas party at work every year, it's expected, and it disappears very fast. no worries about the bacon, it cooks quickly and creates a wonderful sauce w/the brown sugar. and you can prepare it the night before and just plug the crockpot in a few hours before you need to serve it.

1 lb bacon
brown sugar
1 (16 ounce) package Little Smokies sausages
toothpick

Steps:

  • cut strips in bacon into 1/3's.
  • wrap 1/3 cut bacon strips around each lil' smokie and secure with a toothpick.
  • place one layer of bacon wrapped smokies in bottom of crockpot.
  • cover completely with brown sugar.
  • repeat with layer of bacon wrapped smokies.
  • repeat layering until you finish w/a layer of brown sugar.
  • cook in crock pot approximately.
  • 3-4 hours.

I've seen other recipes for these little indulgent treats, but they cook them in a crockpot and I prefer to bake ours. Baking them in the oven allows the bacon to crisp, the liquids to be released from the Smokies, and the brown sugar to caramelize on them deliciously. It also allows to you control the fat content of them a bit more easily, as most of the bacon drippings will remain on the sheet pan after cooking. We usually make them during the holidays, but they're good for all year 'round, of course. So easy to make!
