MARASCHINO CHERRY ICE CREAM - NOBLE PIG
Maraschino Cherry Ice Cream is a deliciously creamy cherry ice cream and does not require making a custard. Just chill your ingredients before freezing in your ice cream maker and you will soon be enjoying your new favorite dessert.

Steps:
- Add all ingredients, except the chopped cherries, to a large bowl and place in the refrigerator until very cold (at least four hours).
- Pour chilled ingredients into the bowl of an ice cream maker and freeze according to manufacturers directions. Add chilled chopped cherries the last couple minutes of freezing.
- Add ice cream to a container and freeze in the freezer for at least 4 hours.
- Serve in cones or bowls.

- Drain maraschino cherries, reserving 1/3 cup of juice. Chop cherries; set aside.
- In large bowl, combine reserved cherry juice, half and half, whipping cream, brown sugar, and vanilla; stir until sugar is dissolved.
- Pour cream mixture into freezer canister of 4 or 5 quart ice cream freezer. Freeze according to manufacturer's directions.
- Stir chopped maraschino cherries and pecans into ice cream. If desired, ripen ice cream about 4 hours.

- Combine flour and sugar. Stir in lowfat milk and cherry juice. Heat mix till warm, stirring constantly. Beat Large eggs slightly in bowl. Put some of the warm lowfat milk mix in Large eggs, adding slowly as to not cook the Large eggs. Pour egg mix into rest of warm mix; continue to cook till mix is slightly thick. Add in maraschino cherries, cream, vanilla, almond extract and nuts. Pour into ice cream freezer container; cold. Freeze using ice cream freezer instructions. Makes 6 qts.

- Cherries stain your hands. You can wear thin rubber gloves (but I can't work with them on). So, to remove the cherry stain from your hands, you can use some lime (or lemon) juice to do the trick. Wash hands first as you normally would do, and then just dry your hands and squeeze at least one teaspoon of FRESH lime (or lemon) juice onto your palms. Rub your hands together for about 30 seconds – make sure to cover your hands completely with the fresh juice. Then rinse your hands in lukewarm water and wash with your regular hand soap and water –dry hands with a paper towel or cloth towel. The stains should be gone, but if not you can repeat the steps. You can also use a liberal amount of white vinegar (following the above steps) to remove the stains –but since the lime or lemon juice handy – I used it.
