No eggs or Milk needed!! Easy and yummy I found this on vegweb posted by Sarah , EVERYONE LOVES this recipe.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 cup sugar
6 tablespoons cornstarch
4 tablespoons cocoa
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons oil
1 cup water
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • Mix sugars, cornstarch, salt, and cocoa in a medium sauce pan.
  • Whisk in the water.
  • Heat over medium until it gets thick and starts to boil. Boil for 1-2 minutes.
  • (Make sure you don't boil too long, or it will set like taffy.)
  • Remove from heat and stir in oil and vanilla. Cool and spread on cooled cake.

1 cup milk
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Whisk milk into flour in small saucepan until smooth. Heat and stir until it boils and thickens. Cool thoroughly.
  • Cream butter, sugar and vanilla in bowl until light and fluffy. Add thickened milk. Beat until mixture resembles whipped cream. Makes enough to fill and frost 2 layer cake, about 3 1/2 cups.

Once stiff peaks are formed, transfer the icing to bowls and cover with plastic wrap, pressing the wrap onto the icing to prevent crusting.  At this point, the icing can be tinted with gel paste food coloring. The icing can also be thinned with water to fill in piped outlines.
