HONEY MUSTARD GLAZED HAM RECIPE BY TASTY

Here's what you need: onion, garlic, apple cider vinegar, stone ground mustard, orange juice, whole cloves, picnic ham, honey, dijon mustard, worcestershire sauce, brown sugar

Number Of Ingredients 11

onion, chopped
10 cloves garlic, peeled
¼ cup apple cider vinegar
¼ cup stone ground mustard
1 cup orange juice
10 whole cloves
10 lb picnic ham, cured
½ cup honey
½ cup dijon mustard
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
1 cup brown sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Add the chopped onion, garlic cloves, apple cider vinegar, mustard, orange juice, and cloves to a large roasting pan, stirring to combine.
  • Place the ham on the roasting rack over the liquid.
  • Trim off tough outer skin, then score the remaining fat in a crosshatch pattern. Cover the entire roasting rack with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour.
  • Remove the ham from the oven, and remove the foil. Baste the ham with the liquid, then remove the rack from the roasting pan and set aside.
  • Remove all the whole cloves from the remaining liquid in the pan. Pour the remaining liquid into a pot, along with the honey, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar. Whisk to combine.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil over medium high heat, then simmer until thick and reduced, about 10 minutes.
  • Brush the glaze on to the ham then transfer back to the roasting rack.
  • Bake the ham for 30-45 minutes, or until the glaze is caramelized and the ham reaches 145°F (65°C).
  • Slice the ham, and serve.

These savory hand pies are flaky, melty, and, thanks to a package of frozen puff pastry and sliced deli ham and cheese, really simple to assemble.

? cup whole grain mustard
3 Tbsp. honey
1 large egg
Kosher salt
1 package frozen puff pastry (preferably Dufour), thawed
All-purpose flour (for surface)
8 oz. package sliced Swiss cheese, torn into bite-size pieces
6 slices deli ham, torn into bite-size pieces
Freshly ground black pepper
Sesame seeds (for sprinkling)

Steps:

  • Place racks in upper and lower thirds of oven; preheat to 375°. Stir mustard and honey in a medium bowl to combine. Beat egg, a pinch of salt, and 1 Tbsp. water in another small bowl to combine; set egg wash aside.
  • Unfold puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. If using a 17.3-oz. package with 2 sheets, arrange them next to each other so they overlap slightly on a long side and gently press together to make 1 large sheet. Roll pastry to a 20x15" rectangle, then slice into 5" squares with a sharp knife (4 squares on long sides and 3 squares on short sides for 12 total).
  • Spread about 1 tsp. honey mustard on the bottom half of each square to make a right triangle, leaving about ½" border along edges. Divide cheese and ham among squares, arranging on top of honey mustard. Using a pastry brush or your finger, brush or swipe reserved egg wash around edges of each square. Working with 1 square at a time, fold corner without any honey mustard up and over filling to meet opposite bottom corner, making a triangle. Press edges together to seal. Using a fork, crimp edges. Divide hand pies among 2 parchment-lined baking sheets, spacing evenly. Brush tops with egg wash; sprinkle with pepper and sesame seeds. Chill in freezer 30 minutes.
  • Cut a few slits in the top of each hand pie to let steam escape while baking. Bake hand pies, rotating baking sheets top to bottom and front to back halfway through, until golden brown and puffed, 30–35 minutes. Let cool slightly.
  • Serve hand pies with remaining honey mustard on the side for dipping.
