Unbelievable Grilled Garlic Bread Recipe | Allrecipes image

French bread (or Italian) is lightly toasted, spread with a creamy cheese mixture and grilled until warm, melted, and unbelievably delicious. The finished bread keeps well in an airtight container.

1 cup mayonnaise
6 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese
½ cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon half-and-half
¼ teaspoon paprika
1 (1 pound) loaf French bread, halved lengthwise

Steps:

  • Preheat grill for medium heat.
  • In a medium bowl, mix the mayonnaise, garlic, and Parmesan cheese. In a saucepan over medium-low heat, mix the Cheddar cheese, half-and-half, and paprika. Stir constantly until melted and smooth. Pour into the bowl with mayonnaise mixture, stirring until well blended.
  • Place the French bread on the grill cut side down, and let it toast for a few minutes. Remove from the grill, and spread the cheese mixture on each side. Place the halves back together, and wrap the loaf in aluminum foil. Return to the grill for about 15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the loaf is heated through and the cheese mixture is hot.

Homemade garlic bread is a welcome addition to almost any meal, especially when it has a smoky char from the grill. Garlic butter makes the bread extra rich, but you can substitute olive oil if you wish. Sprinkle the cut bread with grated parmesan cheese just before serving if your crowd prefers cheesy garlic bread.

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 (12-oz.) baguette
6 tablespoons unsalted butter
4 minced medium garlic cloves (1 1/2 Tbsp.)
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley

Steps:

  • Split baguette horizontally, and cut each piece in half crosswise. Cook butter, garlic, salt, and black pepper in a small skillet over medium, stirring occasionally, 5 minutes. Stir in chopped flat-leaf parsley.
  • Reduce heat to low, and cover mixture to keep warm. Place bread pieces, split side down, on unoiled grill grates over medium heat (350°F to 400°F). Grill, uncovered, until slightly charred and crisp, 1 minute. Flip bread, and grill 1 minute. Remove from grill.
  • Brush cut sides of bread with warm butter mixture. Cut each into thirds. Serve immediately.
