Total Time 28 minutes

Prep Time 20 minutes

Cook Time 8 minutes

Yield 8 pizzas

Number Of Ingredients 11

3?½ cups all-purpose flour, or as needed
1 envelope Fleischmann's® Pizza Crust Yeast
1 tablespoon sugar
1?½ teaspoons salt
1?? cups very warm water (120 degrees to 130 degrees F)*
? cup oil
1 tablespoon Additional flour for rolling
1 teaspoon Additional oil for grilling
½ cup Pizza sauce
Other toppings as desired
1 ounce Shredded mozzarella cheese

Steps:

  • Start charcoal fire or preheat gas grill to medium-high heat.
  • Combine 2 cups flour, undissolved yeast, sugar and salt in a large bowl. Add very warm water and oil; mix until well blended, about 1 minute. Gradually add enough flour to make a soft dough. Dough should form a ball and will be slightly sticky. Knead** on a floured surface, adding additional flour if necessary, until smooth and elastic but not sticky, about 5 minutes.
  • Divide dough into 8 portions. Pat or roll dough on a well-floured counter to about 8-inch circles; they do not need to be perfect.
  • Brush both sides of crust with additional oil. Using hands, lift each crust carefully and place on grill. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes until bottom is lightly browned and top looks set. Using long handled tongs, remove crust from grill, grilled side up, to a platter or baking sheet.
  • Lightly add sauce and top the grilled side of each pizza crust. Excess sauce or toppings makes the pizza hard to handle. Repeat with remaining pizzas.
  • Carefully slide each pizza onto the grill. Cook an additional 3 to 4 minutes until bottom of crust is browned and cheese is melted. Remove from grill and serve immediately.

  • Brush each dough round with about 1 teaspoon of the olive oil. Place on the grill, oiled side up, and cook until browned on the underside, about 2 minutes. Turn and, working quickly, brush each round with another 1 teaspoon olive oil. Then scatter each with 1/6 each of the garlic, oregano, red pepper flakes, if using, eggplant, bell peppers, olives, and cheese. Cover the grill and cook until the rounds are browned on the bottom and the cheese has softened, about 7 minutes. Transfer to plates and top each with an equal amount of the arugula. Spritz lightly with vinegar. Serve immediately.

This delicious grilled pizza is topped with fresh ricotta, runny eggs and spigarello, a leafy green that tastes a lot like broccoli. It’s available at farmers’ markets and some greengrocers, but Tuscan kale is a fine substitute. Slideshow: More Pizza Recipes

BIG GREEN EGG | PIZZA SAUCE
Do you want to bake the perfect pizza on the Big Green Egg? You will definitely need a good foundation. In this recipe, we will teach you how to prepare a flavourful pizza sauce. • Light the charcoal in the Big Green Egg and after 10-12 minutes place the red onion directly between the glowing charcoal. Close the lid of the EGG and allow the onion to roast for about 20 minutes. During roasting, turn the onion a few times with the Grill Tong. Remove the onion from the EGG. Place the Stainless Steel Grid and heat the Big Green Egg to about 160 °C. In the meantime cut the tomatoes in half and brush the cut surface with 1 tbsp of olive oil. Place the tomatoes cut side down on the grid, close the lid and grill the tomatoes for about 20-25 minutes, until they have caramelised to a nice golden brown colour. At the same time, place the garlic cloves on the grid and roast these until soft. While waiting for this, remove the blackened skin from the onion and cut the onion in half. Place the grilled tomatoes and half of the onion in a blender and squeeze the garlic cloves over it (use the other half of the onion for the pizza Calzone). Add the basil leaves and remaining olive oil. Purée the vegetables and season to taste with salt and pepper. With the pizza base and basic sauce we can make endless variations by topping or filling the pizzas with different ingredients.
