This puff pastry apple tart is quick, easy, and so yummy. Use frozen puff pastry to cut down on time, and make sure to serve with vanilla or cinnamon ice cream!

package puff pastry sheets, thawed, each cut into half or thirds

apples, cored, halved, and sliced very thin

2/3 c.

brown sugar

pinch salt

Powdered sugar, caramel sauce, and/or whipped cream, for serving, optional

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Place the puff pastry rectangles onto two baking pans that have been sprayed with nonstick spray. Add sugar and salt to apples. Stir to combine. Allow to sit for a few minutes. Arrange apple slices on the pastry rectangles in a straight line, overlapping as you go. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, or until pastry is puffed and golden brown. Remove from the pan immediately and place on a serving platter. Serve plain, with caramel topping, whipped cream, and/or a sprinkling of powdered sugar.

If you are looking for a very easy and delicious recipe, look no further! This tart is filled with thinly sliced apples arranged in a elegant pattern and finished with honey brushed on top to add shine and more flavor.

1 sheet frozen puff pastry
2 medium apples (cored and thinly sliced, not peeled)
1 tablespoon all purpose flour
3 tablespoons brown sugar
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
a pinch of salt
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon lemon juice
egg wash: 1 egg + 1 tablespoon water, whisked together
sanding sugar (optional, for topping)
honey (optional, for brushing on the top after baking)

Steps:

  • Let the puff pastry thaw on the counter for about 30-40 minutes. It should still be cold but you should be able to unfold without breaking it.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, add in sliced apples, lemon juice, flour, cinnamon, brown sugar, pinch of salt and vanilla extract. Mix gently. Allow to sit for 15 minutes.
  • Once the puff pastry is thawed, lightly flour your surface and place the sheet on top. Using a rolling pin, gently roll the pastry just to smooth creases. Place the puff pastry on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Using a knife, score about 1 inch border around the sides. Do not cut completely through the dough. Then prick the middle with a fork. Brush the border with egg wash and sprinkle with sanding sugar, if using.
  • Arrange apple slices on top of the pastry (leave the juices behind). Place the tart in the freezer for 10 minutes. This step helps the tart keep its shape. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, until golden brown.
  • Let the tart cool down, then brush the top with honey to create a beautiful shine. Serve warm or at room temperature.
