Golden Sweet Cornbread | Allrecipes image

If you like sweet cornbread, this is the recipe for you! My mom made this for me as a child, and now it's my family's favorite.

Yield 1 - 9 inch round pan

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup yellow cornmeal
? cup white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3?½ teaspoons baking powder
1 egg
1 cup milk
? cup vegetable oil

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Spray or lightly grease a 9 inch round cake pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, sugar, salt and baking powder. Stir in egg, milk and vegetable oil until well combined. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.

1 cup(s) yellow cornmeal
1 tablespoon(s) sugar
2 teaspoon(s) baking powder
1 teaspoon(s) baking soda
1/4 teaspoon(s) salt
2 - eggs
1 cup(s) buttermilk
3 tablespoon(s) butter, melted

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. In a small bowl, whisk the eggs, buttermilk and butter. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened.
  • Transfer to a 9-in. square baking pan coated with cooking spray. Bake in a preheated 400-degree oven for 15-20 minutes or until top is lightly browned and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Serve warm. Pass the butter.
