Mounds Bar Recipe (Hershey's Copycat) - Recipes.net image

Recreate your favorite chocolate with this 5-ingredient mounds bar recipe. Enjoy bites of sweetened coconut covered in luscious chocolate anytime you want.

Provided by Rommel

Total Time 1 hours 55 minutes

Prep Time 25 minutes

Yield 12

Number Of Ingredients 4

8½ oz or chips, shaved if using bars dark chocolate bars
1½ cups unroasted desiccated coconut
½ cup sweetened condensed milk
¼ cup heavy cream

Steps:

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Heat up your cream in the microwave on low for no more than 15 seconds, or just until warm.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine your warm cream, condensed milk, and desiccated coconut. Mix until your mixture thickens. You should be able to form a shape when clenched together.
  • Measure 1½ tablespoons of your coconut mixture, then place these onto your lined baking sheet. Using your hands, mold each mixture until it forms a log, roughly 1½-inches long.
  • Transfer your coconut mixture into a chilled area and allow to firm up for at least 30 minutes.
  • Once firm, start melting your chocolate by heating in the microwave on low in 15-second bursts, stirring in between until evenly melted.
  • Once the chocolate has melted, working quickly, glaze each coconut bar in the melted chocolate and return them on your lined baking sheet, inches apart from each other. Lightly scrape on the edge of the bowl to remove any excess. You may need to reheat your chocolate to avoid thickening.
  • Return the coconut bars back into the chiller once all are glazed. Chill until firm, at least an hour.
  • Enjoy your homemade Mounds Bar!

FLORENTINES | CHOCOLATE RECIPES | JAMIE OLIVER

Florentines | Chocolate Recipes | Jamie Oliver image

Florentines are a welcome gift at any time of year. Use this recipe to try our favourite chocolate and fruit flavour combinations – cherry and dark chocolate, orange and milk. Or create your own with crystallised ginger, pistachios, white chocolate, cranberries – whatever you like!

Total Time 40 minutes

Yield 24

Number Of Ingredients 8

40 g mixed dried cherries or candied orange peel
70 g sugar
20 g unsalted butter
2 teaspoons plain flour
60 ml crème fraîche
50 g flaked almonds
30 g mixed seeds such as sunflower, sesame, poppy seeds
150 g dark (70%) or milk chocolate

Steps:

    1. Preheat the oven to 180ºC/gas 4 and line 2 baking sheets with baking paper.
    2. Finely chop the dried fruit or peel.
    3. Place a small saucepan over a low heat and add the sugar, butter and flour, stirring to combine. Keep stirring until the sugar has dissolved, then gradually add the crème fraîche.
    4. Take off the heat and stir in the flaked almonds, seeds and dried fruit or peel.
    5. While it’s still warm, use teaspoons to drop little mounds of mixture onto the baking sheets, leaving a few centimetres between each one to allow them room to spread.
    6. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until golden. Leave to cool a little on the sheet before cooling on a rack.
    7. Meanwhile, melt the chocolate in a bowl over a saucepan of simmering water, then, using a spoon, drizzle it over the florentines.
    8. Let the chocolate set completely, before transferring the biscuits to boxes, or wrapping in greaseproof paper and ribbons.

MOUNDS BALLS RECIPE: HOW TO MAKE IT - TASTE OF HOME
I make these bite-sized treats as gifts for friends—and I get lots of thank-you notes in return. The mailman doesn't mind delivering them, though. He gets a box of candy, too! We have three generations of family working together on our dairy farm in the "thumb" of Michigan. Everyone agrees these milky morsels promote our product deliciously. —Kathy Dorman, Snover, Michigan

Place balls on baking sheets; freeze. In double boiler over simmering water, melt chocolate chips, chocolate squares and paraffin wax. Keep warm over hot water. Using picks as handles, dip frozen balls into chocolate mixture; stick picks upright into was paper-covered Styrofoam sheet. Chill until firm. CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES RECIPE - NYT COOKING
You may have memorized the foolproof gem on the back of the Toll House bag, given to the world by Ruth Graves Wakefield in the 1930s. But this may become your new favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe. It’s a little more complicated, and you’ll have to plan ahead: After assembling the dough, you must chill it for at least 24 hours before baking it, and preferably up to 36. This allows the dry ingredients time to soak up the wet ones, which results in a firmer dough. It leads to a marvelously chewy, chocolate-rich cookie. Don’t skimp on good chocolate, and the sea salt is not an option — it’s the beacon at the top of this gorgeous treat. (You can certainly put this recipe together by hand, but a stand mixer makes it easy work. If you’re in the market for one, our colleagues at The Sweethome have tested quite a few, and they've put together an excellent guide to the best.)

  • Scoop 6 3 1/2-ounce mounds of dough (the size of generous golf balls) onto baking sheet, making sure to turn horizontally any chocolate pieces that are poking up; it will make for a more attractive cookie. Sprinkle lightly with sea salt and bake until golden brown but still soft, 18 to 20 minutes. Transfer sheet to a wire rack for 10 minutes, then slip cookies onto another rack to cool a bit more. Repeat with remaining dough, or reserve dough, refrigerated, for baking remaining batches the next day. Eat warm, with a big napkin.

GLUTEN-FREE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES RECIPE - NYT COOKING
Almond flour is the only special ingredient needed to make these cookies, and it can be found in the baking aisle or the health food section of the grocery store. It provides the protein and structure of a classic wheat flour, while keeping the cookie perfectly chewy in the center. If you want a stronger almond flavor, toast the almond flour in a dry skillet over medium-low heat until golden and fragrant, and cool before using. This recipe was adapted from the Times’s famous chocolate chip cookie recipe, but unlike that recipe, this dough does not require 36 hours of refrigeration before baking. Chopped chocolate or feves make for a gooier cookie, but classic chocolate chips work here, too. This recipe makes huge, bakery-style cookies, but if you want smaller cookies, use 1/4-cup mounds of dough and bake for 16 to 18 minutes, or a 2-tablespoon scoops and bake for for 10 to 12 minutes.

  • Gently press the cookies down slightly with your fingers until about 1 1/2 inches thick. Sprinkle lightly with sea salt, if using. Bake the cookies, switching racks and rotating the sheets halfway through, until they’re golden brown around the edges and just barely set in the center, 18 to 22 minutes. Transfer sheets to a wire rack for 10 minutes, then transfer cookies with a spatula onto another rack to cool a bit more.
