This is delicious on a cold wintry day. Add fresh cornbread and salad for a great meal.

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 pound lean ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, chopped
2 (15 ounce) cans kidney beans
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar
salt to taste
ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • In a 2 quart saucepan, brown hamburger in vegetable oil. Add onion and garlic, and cook until the onion is soft. Pour off any excess fat.
  • Stir in beans, crushed tomatoes, chili powder, and vinegar. Salt and pepper to taste. Heat to boiling, and reduce heat. Cover, and simmer 30 minutes.

This is the tastiest, easiest chili recipe you'll ever find. I recommend serving it with sliced jalapeno chile peppers and crackers or cornbread.

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 pounds ground beef
½ onion, chopped
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
½ teaspoon garlic salt
2 ½ cups tomato sauce
1 (8 ounce) jar salsa
4 tablespoons chili seasoning mix
1 (15 ounce) can light red kidney beans
1 (15 ounce) can dark red kidney beans

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the ground beef and the onion and saute for 10 minutes, or until meat is browned and onion is tender. Drain grease, if desired.
  • Add the ground black pepper, garlic salt, tomato sauce, salsa, chili seasoning mix and kidney beans. Mix well, reduce heat to low and simmer for at least an hour.

  • Preheat oven to 425º and line a large baking sheet with foil. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat oil. Add onion and cook until soft, 5 minutes, then add ground beef and cook until no longer pink, 6 minutes more. Drain fat. Add garlic and taco seasoning and season with salt. Cook until meat is well browned and slightly crispy, 5 minutes more. Add refried beans and water to skillet and stir until combined.  Add half the tortilla chips and top with beef-bean mixture, half the cheese, half the black beans, and half the pickled jalapeños.
