Provided by Joanna Saltz

Categories     Kosher    easy chicken    Hanukkah    appetizers

Total Time 50 minutes

Prep Time 30 minutes

Cook Time 20 minutes

Yield 8-12

Number Of Ingredients 8

4

eggs

1/2 c.

Seltzer

1/2 c.

shortening or chicken fat, melted

1 c.

matzoh meal

2 tsp.

dill, finely minced

kosher salt

Freshly ground black pepper

2 qt.

chicken broth, either homemade or canned

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, whisk eggs until well mixed. Add in seltzer and melted shortening or fat, and stir to combine. Whisk in matzoh meal and stir until well incorporated, getting rid of all lumps. Stir in dill, salt, and pepper. Set aside in refrigerator for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, bring chicken broth to boil in a large pot. Remove matzoh ball mixture from refrigerator. Using a melon baller or teaspoon, scoop 1-inch matzoh balls and drop them into the boiling broth. For rounder, firmer matzoh balls, roll in your hands before dropping into the broth. Once all matzoh balls are in the broth, allow to boil for 20 minutes. To serve, place one matzoh ball onto a soup spoon and ladle with broth.

PINK BRAIN SHOOTER RECIPE | ALLRECIPES

Pink Brain Shooter Recipe | Allrecipes image

This spooky Halloween treat is scarily realistic! A non-alcoholic version may also be made for the kiddies by substituting the peach schnapps with water.

Provided by Marie Angel Cat

Categories     Drink Recipes    Shot Recipes    Jell-O® Shots

Total Time 5 hours 20 minutes

Prep Time 20 minutes

Yield 1 brain

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 brain-shaped gelatin mold
4 (3 ounce) packages peach flavored Jell-O® mix
3 cups boiling water
1 (12 fluid ounce) can evaporated milk
1?½ cups peach schnapps
4 drops blue food coloring
2 drops red food coloring
2 teaspoons water

Steps:

  • Lightly oil a brain-shaped gelatin mold.
  • Stir the peach gelatin mix with boiling water in a bowl to dissolve the gelatin. Allow to cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes. Mix in the evaporated milk and peach schnapps; pour into the prepared mold. Refrigerate until set, 4 to 6 hours.
  • To decorate, dip the mold in very warm water (don't let the water enter the top of the mold) to loosen; invert the mold on a serving platter and lift to leave the brain in place. Mix blue and red food coloring in a small bowl with 2 teaspoons of water. Use a small clean paintbrush to paint the coloring into the grooves of the brain. Return the brain to the refrigerator until the food coloring sets. Serve cold.

RUM BALLS RECIPE | ALLRECIPES
I wanted a good rum ball with a lot of kick, so I sat down and came up with this recipe. I didn't realize how good these were until one year I didn't make them for work. I just about got lynched! Needless to say, I've made them every year since (about 20 years). These are best if you use Meyers Original Dark Rum® chilled, and Nabisco® 'Nilla wafer cookies. They are at their peak if you make them 2 days in advance. Remove from fridge 30 minutes before serving.
