Yield Makes 24

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 cup blanched slivered almonds
3/4 teaspoon anise or fennel seed
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
1/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons honey
1/2 teaspoon coarse salt
1/4 cup all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled)
1 tablespoon finely grated orange zest

Steps:

Transfer mixture to a small saucepan. Add butter, sugar, honey, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high, stirring once to combine ingredients as butter melts. Boil 1 minute; remove from heat. Stir in flour and zest. Working quickly, drop batter by teaspoonfuls, 2 1/2 inches apart, on sheets. Bake until golden brown, 6 to 8 minutes, rotating sheets halfway through. Let cool completely on sheets on wire racks.

ALMOND TUILES RECIPE | MARTHA STEWART

Almond Tuiles Recipe | Martha Stewart image

These delicate wafers are named for their tilelike shape, which is achieved by draping just-baked cookies over a rolling pin.

Provided by Martha Stewart

Categories     Cookie Recipes

Yield Makes 2 dozen

Number Of Ingredients 6

5 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons freshly squeezed orange juice
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2/3 cup sliced blanched almonds (2 ounces)
Finely grated zest of 1/2 orange

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or a Silpat (a French baking mat).
  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine butter, sugar, and orange juice, stirring until the butter has completely melted. Remove from heat, and add the flour, almonds, and orange zest, whisking to combine.
  • Place a heaping teaspoon of batter on prepared baking sheet, and flatten with the back of a spoon. Repeat to make about 6 cookies on each sheet, placing them about 4 inches apart.
  • Bake one sheet at a time, rotating sheet once cookies have fully flattened, until cookies are golden, 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Transfer baking sheet to a wire rack; let cool 20 seconds. Using a thin spatula, carefully lift tuiles; quickly drape over a rolling pin. Let stand until completely cooled and hardened.

LACE COOKIES RECIPE | REAL SIMPLE
Just like the name indicates, lace cookies are delicate, and seemingly intricate, creations. Thing is, they’re actually a breeze to make, so don’t let that thin texture and those perfectly bubbled tops fool you. After heating a wet batter and mixing in flour and finely chopped almonds, you’ll drop spoonfuls of the batter onto parchment-lined baking sheets and throw the pans in the oven. The sugary batter spreads out into lovely round cookies and caramelizes just a bit. Wonderful on their own, lace cookies are also fantastic served in a scoop of ice cream, or even as an impromptu cookie sandwich, with peanut butter or Nutella.
