Try this Chinese way of quenching your thirst by making winter melon tea by simply simmering winter melon with tons of sugar for a sweet cooling drink.

Number Of Ingredients 3

3.5 lb rinded and seeded, cut into 1-inch cubes winter melon meat
9 oz brown sugar
1.8 oz rock sugar

Steps:

  • Mix winter melon with brown sugar in a soup pot. Set aside for about 1 hour, until some liquid has formed.
  • Add rock sugar and mix. Place the pot on the stovetop, turn on the heat, and bring to a boil. Cover the pot, reduce the heat to a simmer, and cook for about 2 hours until the winter melon is completely transparent.
  • Turn off the heat. Pass the pot content over a strainer. Strain and press as much liquid through the strainer. The strained liquid is the winter melon tea syrup.
  • To serve, make tea with 1 part concentrated winter melon syrup and 3 parts water. Add some ice cubes, and stir everything together.
  • Serve cold and enjoy.

2 wedges honeydew melon
1 cup cold water
2 teaspoons white sugar
2 teaspoons hot water
8 cubes ice

Steps:

  • Combine winter melon, honeydew melon, and cold water in a blender. Blend until smooth. Pour into 2 glasses.
  • Combine sugar and hot water in a small glass; stir to dissolve. Add to the smoothies with ice cubes. Serve chilled.
