This is my kind of favorite pizza. I have not try this one but this is almost the same as the one I did without any recipe. This is from the issue of November 2005, Coup de Pouce. ETA : I made it on July 24, 2011. I used 1 lb of lean ground beef. And also a store-bought dough already made. I made this pizza sauce : recipe#460241 I added chopped red bell pepper. DH said 10 stars and he didn't know it was my recipe.

1/2 lb lean ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon fresh black pepper
1 lb pizza dough (for 1 pizza)
1/4 cup pizza sauce
3/4 cup cheddar cheese, grated
3/4 cup mozzarella cheese, grated

Steps:

  • In a skillet, cook ground beef, onion, garlic, oregano, salt and pepper at medium-high heat, stirring from time to time, 3 to 5 minutes or until beef is no longer pink. Drain any fat. Set aside.
  • On a lightly floured surface, lower the dough in a circle of 12 inches of diameter. Put on a greased pizza plate. Spread sauce on the pizza dough. Garnish with beef preparation and sprinkle with cheddar and mozzarella cheeses. Cook on the lowest grill in a preheated oven of 500 F for about 10 minutes or until cheese is bubbling and crust is golden and slighly inflated.

4 c. of Hy-Vee finely shredded Italian cheese
0.75 c. of Hy-Vee Full Circle Market almond flour
2 tbsp. of Hy-Vee plain cream cheese
1 tsp. of Hy-Vee dried thyme
0.5 tsp. of Hy-Vee salt
1 c. of Hy-Vee pizza sauce
0.5 (1-lbs.) pkg. Hy-Vee True Angus 85% lean organic ground beef
0.75 c. of Hy-Vee original pepperoni slices
0.5 c. of Hy-Vee Short Cuts chopped red onions

Steps:

  • 1.

    Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Cut a piece of parchment paper 2-inches larger than a 12-inch round pizza pan; line pan with parchment.

  • 2.

    Combine 2 cups shredded cheese, almond flour, cream cheese, thyme, and salt in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on HIGH at 30-second intervals, stirring after each until cheese is melted and mixture starts holding together. Remove mixture from bowl to a work surface and knead gently to form a dough.

  • 3.

    Form dough into a ball, then pat into a disk in the center of the parchment paper and press to edges of pan. Using a fork, gently prick the dough all over to prevent large bubbles from forming. 

  • 4.

    Bake crust for 6 to 8 minutes, or until golden brown. Watch carefully to prevent burning. Let crust cool on pan on a cooling rack. Reduce oven temperature to 375 degrees. When crust is cool, top with pizza sauce and 1-1/2 cups Italian cheese, then top with beef, pepperoni, red onions, and remaining 1/2 cup Italian cheese. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes more or until cheese is lightly golden. Cool slightly before serving.
