5 slices cooked ham
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
5 dill pickle spears

Steps:

  • Lay the ham slices flat on a serving plate and pat dry. Spread with cream cheese. Place a pickle spear at one end of each slice, and roll the slices into cylinders around the spears; secure with toothpicks.

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 cups dry white wine
4 teaspoons cherry brandy
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon paprika
Dash cayenne pepper
1/2 pound each Emmenthaler, Gruyere and Jarlsberg cheeses, finely shredded
Cubed French bread baguette, boiled red potatoes and/or tiny whole pickles

Steps:

  • Whisk together the first 6 ingredients until smooth in a large saucepan. Heat mixture over medium heat until slightly thickened, stirring constantly, 5-7 minutes., Reduce heat to low; gradually add 1/2 cup cheese, stirring constantly with a figure-eight motion, until cheese is melted (cheese will separate from wine mixture). Gradually add remaining cheese, allowing cheese to melt between additions. Cook and stir until thickened and mixture is blended and smooth, 4-5 minutes. , Transfer to a fondue pot and keep warm. Serve with bread cubes, potatoes and/or pickles.

Don't overlook this recipe when you need an easy appetizer!! This recipe is soooooo worth the little bit of effort it takes. Using one 8 oz. pkg. of cream cheese, I was able to use 10 slices of cooked ham/10 pickle spears. Make sure your ham is not sliced too thin or it will tear as you try to spread on the cream cheese!
