BBQ Chicken Pizza Recipe - Pillsbury.com image

Time to ditch pizza delivery! You can make an even better-tasting pizza yourself with only a few ingredients and little prep time, and it goes way beyond just plain cheese and pepperoni. This barbecue chicken pizza packs a whole lot of flavor for pizza night thanks to ingredients like chicken, barbecue sauce, shredded mozzarella, red onion and cilantro. And it all starts with Pillsbury™ refrigerated classic pizza crust, so you don’t have worry about any fussy dough prep.

Provided by Pillsbury Kitchens

Total Time 40 minutes

Prep Time 15 minutes

Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 can (13.8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Classic Crust Pizza Crust
2 cups coarsely chopped cooked chicken breast
3/4 cup barbecue sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (8 oz)
1/2 cup thinly sliced red onion
1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro, if desired

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400°F for dark or nonstick pan (425°F for all other pans). Spray 15x10x1-inch pan with cooking spray.
  • Unroll dough in pan; starting at center, press dough into 15x10-inch rectangle. Bake 9 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Meanwhile, in medium bowl, mix chicken and barbecue sauce until chicken is coated with sauce.
  • Sprinkle 1 cup of the cheese over partially baked crust. Spoon and carefully spread chicken mixture evenly over cheese. Top with red onion and remaining 1 cup cheese. Bake 8 to 11 minutes or until cheese is melted. Sprinkle with cilantro. To serve, cut into 6 rows by 3 rows.

BBQ CHICKEN PIZZA RECIPE - BBC GOOD FOOD

BBQ chicken pizza recipe - BBC Good Food image

Make a healthy, low-calorie pizza that adds up to three of your 5-a-day and give the takeaway a miss. The barbecue chicken lends a moreish smoky flavour

Provided by Sara Buenfeld

Categories     Main course, Supper

Total Time 55 minutes

Prep Time 25 minutes

Cook Time 30 minutes

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 13

250g wholemeal flour , plus a little for kneading if necessary
1 tsp instant yeast
¼ tsp salt
1 tbsp rapeseed oil , plus extra for greasing
pack of 3 peppers
1 large onion
1 tbsp rapeseed oil
1 tsp fennel seeds
2 tbsp barbecue sauce
2 tbsp tomato purée
1 large skinless chicken breast fillet (about 225g), diced
175g baby plum tomatoes , quartered
50g Applewood smoked cheese , grated

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 220C/200C fan/gas 7. Tip the flour into a mixer with a dough hook, or a bowl. Add the yeast, salt, oil and 200ml warm water then mix well to a very soft dough. Knead in the food mixer for about 5 mins, but if making this by hand, tip onto a work surface and knead for about 10 mins. The dough is sticky, but try not to add too much extra flour. Leave in the bowl and cover with a tea towel while you halve and slice the peppers and onions. There is no need to prove the dough for a specific time, just let it sit while you make the topping.
  • For the topping: toss the peppers and onions with the oil and fennel seeds then roast for 15 mins. Meanwhile mix the barbecue sauce and tomato purée with 5 tbsp water.
  • Take the dough from the bowl and press into the base and up the sides of an oiled 25x35cm Swiss roll tin. Don’t knead the dough first otherwise it will be too elastic and will keep shrinking back. Spread with two thirds of the barbecue sauce mix then add the remainder to the chicken and toss well to coat it.
  • Take the roasted pepper mixture from the oven and spread on top of the pizza. Scatter over the tomatoes then evenly spoon on the barbecue chicken. Scatter with the cheese and bake for 15 mins. Serve with a salad or healthy coleslaw.

ALMOST-FAMOUS BARBECUE CHICKEN PIZZA RECIPE | FOOD N…
When California Pizza Kitchen’s cofounders created their first menu back in 1985, they had a theory: Anything that makes a great sandwich would make an even better pizza. Not all of the chain’s sandwich-inspired pies have been a success (egg-salad pizza was a flop in the late ’80s), but the combo of barbecue sauce and chicken on a crust turned out to be a winning formula. The Original BBQ Chicken Pizza has been the chain’s top seller ever since — and Food Network Kitchens figured out the recipe so you can make a perfect copy at home.

  • Uncover the dough and spread with the remaining 1/3 cup barbecue sauce, leaving a 3/4-inch border. Top with the chicken, gouda, mozzarella and red onion. Slide the pizza (on the parchment) onto a pizza peel or another inverted baking sheet, then slide onto the hot stone or baking sheet; bake until the cheese melts and the crust is golden, 20 to 25 minutes. Sprinkle with cilantro.
