- To serve, shake contents of the container. For each serving, place 3 tablespoons of the mix in a 10-ounce mug and add 1 cup boiling water; stir until mix is well incorporated (crushed candies will dissolve in about 2 minutes as the mixture stands).

- In a 1-quart jar, layer cocoa powder, powdered milk, chocolate chips, peppermint candies, and mini marshmallows. Prep time: 5 minutes. Total time: 10 minutes. Makes 6 to 8 servings. Whisk the Peppermint Hot Cocoa Mix with 4 cups cold water in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium-low heat, whisking, until warm and smooth and the candies and marshmallows are melted, 6 to 8 minutes (do not let the mixture boil). Ladle into mugs.
