1 lb Chicken livers
1/2 ts Dry mustard
1/2 ts Thyme

Steps:

  • "NOTE: Liver is high in cholesterol, about 300 mg per 3 oz serving Rinse chicken livers, remove any dark spots and fat, and pat dry. Pierce each liver several times with a fork. (Note: any liver could be cut into pieces about one or two bite size.) In a 1 quart casserole, combine livers with seasonings. Stir. Cover tightly. Microwave at High for 1 min, then at Medium 5-6 min or until liver is pink. Allow 5 min after cooking time. For two servings, start with a bit less than 1/2 lb liver and half the spices (or sprinkle them from the spice container). Cook about 1/2 min High, 2 min Medium and check. "

chicken livers - 17.5 oz (500 g)
mushrooms - 9 oz (250 g)
onions - 3 - 4 medium - sized heads
cooking cream - 1 cup (250 ml)
cheese - 3.5 oz (100 g)

Steps:

  • Bake the cleaned livers briefly in a pan.
  • Braise the mushrooms slightly, then the onions , chopped into crescents, in the same pan. Add the livers, return the mushrooms and onions to the pan, pour on the cream and a little water if needed.
  • Add salt, black pepper, bake everything at 390°F (200 °C) until fully ready.
  • At the very end, sprinkle cheese and crisp until golden.
  • Bon appetit

No, Paula's boys did not EVER claim making such a dish! However, they did do BBQ Chicken with an original BBQ sauce that is soooooooo good that I keep some made and on hand for both chicken and pork (chops). The sauce is a sweet tomato-based sauce which has just a slight heat that can be made more intense by increasing the mustard powder and/or cayenne pepper. I've done bbq-d chicken in the oven several times since having this BBQ Chicken at friends' home about a year ago. The last time I started with 2 whole chickens (cut into pieces myself) that had extra servings of livers in the cavities. I nestled the livers in one corner of the baking pan and covered them with the BBQ sauce just as the rest of the chicken... and baked the chicken as instructed. The livers were so good that I had to do the recipe again as a LIVERS ONLY version! WOW... unbelievably delicious! But then I love chicken livers (infrequently because of health issues about colesterol, fat, etc.).
