Steps:
- soften yeast in 1/4 cup warm water and set aside.
- Place sortening, sugar, eggs, 1 cup warm water, salt, and 21/2 cups of flour in a large mixing bowl. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth.
- Add softened yeast and blend well.
- Add remaining flour and mix inches.
- Cover and place in warm place until rise is doubled.
- Punch down, cover and place in refrigerator overnight.
- Three hours before serving, rool out dough and divide in half.
- Roll out each each half into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick.
- Spread with soften butter and roll up like jelly roll. Cut into 1 inch slices.
- Places slices into greased muffin tins, cut side down.
- Cover and allow to rise for 3 hours before baking.
- Bake in 400 degree oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

- "Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water. Let stand 10 minutes. Combine dissolved yeast, eggs, 2 1/2 cups flour, 1 cup warm water, shortening, sugar, salt in a large mixer bowl. Beat until smooth at medium speed, scraping sides of bowl, for 2 minutes. With wooden spoon, stir in remaining flour to make soft dough. (You can use up to 5 cups flour in all.) cover. Let rise until double in bulk, about 1 hour. Punch down, refrigerate overnight. Three hours before baking roll out as desired. For dinner rolls, divide dough in half. Roll each dough half into a 1/2 inch thick rectangle. Spread with butter. Starting with long side, roll up jelly-roll style. Cut 1 inch slices. Place in greased muffin pan cups, open side down. cover. Let rise 3 hours until doubled. Bake in 400~ oven 12 to 15 minutes. VARIATIONS Orange Rolls 1/2 c butter or margarine, melted 1/2 c sugar grated rind of 1 orange powdered sugar mixed with milk for icing Roll out dough as indicated for dinner rolls. Combine ingredients and spread on dough instead of butter. Bake. Frost with icing while hot. Garlic Parmesan Rolls garlic salt grated parmesan cheese Follow basic recipe up to taking dough from refrigerator. Pinch off small pieces, roll between hands to form slender sticks. Place on greased baking sheets. Shake lightly with garlic salt, heavily with parmesan. Let rise until not quite doubled. Bake at 400~ 12 to 15 minutes. *This recipe looked like it had been used a lot. "

- Preheat oven to 350°. In a large deep skillet (or large pot) over medium heat, heat oil. Add onion and cook until soft, 5 minutes. Stir in tomato paste and garlic and cook until fragrant, 1 minute. Pour over tomatoes then add vinegar, sugar, and oregano. Lower heat to medium-low and simmer for 20 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. In a large pot of boiling water, blanch cabbage leaves until tender and flexible, about 1 minute. Make filling: In a large bowl, combine ground meats, 1 cup sauce, rice, bread crumbs, onion, and parsley. Season with salt and pepper. Spread a thin layer of sauce on the bottom of a large baking dish. Using a paring knife, cut out the hard triangular rib from each cabbage leaf. Place about ? cup filling into one end of each leaf, then roll up, tucking in the sides as you roll. Place rolls seam side-down on top of sauce in baking dish. Spoon remaining sauce on top of cabbage rolls then cover dish with foil. Bake 1 hour 15 minutes, until rice and meat are cooked through. Garnish with more parsley before serving.
