No Sugar Added Salsa Verde - My Table of Three image

A delicious green salsa made from scratch and no added sugar. This easy Salsa Verde is a great compliment to any Mexican Inspired recipe.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 pound of Tomatillos
1/2 small onion
1/2 small jalapeno
1 small can of green chilies
3 tablespoon chopped cilantro
1 tablespoon lime juice
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
  • Remove the paper-like husk from the tomatillos and rinse them well.
  • Chop the tomatillos, onions, jalapeno into smaller chunks and place them on a baking sheet and add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Place in the preheated oven and roast for 30 minutes before removing the sheet pan and letting it cool completely.
  • Once cooled add the tomatillo mix to a blender along with the can of green chilies, cilantro, and lime juice.
  • Blend on high to reach your desired consistency.Store in a mason jar with a lid in the refrigerator for up to a week.

28 ounces whole peeled tomatoes (drained)
20 ounces diced tomatoes
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped red pepper
1 jalapeno (membrane and seeds removed, chopped)
2 cloves garlic (chopped)
1/2 cup fresh cilantro (chopped)
1 lime (juice)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1 tablespoon olive oil

Steps:

  • Place all ingredients in a food processor and pulse 5 times for chunky salsa or up to 10 times for restaurant style.
  • Makes about 5 1/2 cups.
  • Keep refrigerated.
