GROUND TURKEY SISIG WITH PORTUGUESE SAUSAGE RECIPE BY RENE ...
I have previously posted a couple of sisig recipes on this blog, both of which were seafood variations of this famous Filipino delicacy. For this particular recipe, I tried experimenting with ground turkey and Portuguese sausage and I couldn't be more pleased with the result. I brought some to work and shared it with my Mexican co-worker and she loved it. It may be a Filipino dish but it shares many qualities with the wonderful cuisine of Mexico and Spain. This and other sisig recipes can be served as an appetizer or entree paired with steamed rice. And most definitely, it is great as filling for tacos or burritos!

Steps:
- Heat butter in a large wok until fully melted Add onions and cook until tender Add ginger and green chili and cook for 2 minutes Add ground turkey. Stir and cook for 3 minutes or until fully browned Add soy sauce, vinegar and mayonnaise. Stir. Add salt and pepper to taste Reduce heat and cook for another 2 minutes Remove from heat Transfer to a serving plate and top with grilled Portuguese sausage Sprinkle juice from lemon over the mixture.

- In a bowl, combine the turkey, garlic powder, fennel seed, sugar, salt, oregano and pepper. Cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight. Shape into eight patties. Cook in a nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray for about 3 minutes on each side or until a thermometer reads 165°. Or crumble turkey into a nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray. Cook and stir for about 4 minutes or until meat is no longer pink.
