- Add butter to a medium (at least 8-oz. capacity) microwave-safe mug, and microwave until melted. Using a small whisk or fork, whisk in sugar, cocoa powder, espresso powder, and salt until smooth. Whisk in milk or water until combined, then whisk in flour and mini chocolate chips. Add nut butter over brownie batter if using, then sprinkle with more mini chocolate chips. Microwave for 1 minute on full power, then let cool slightly before digging in.
