Great for entertaining. I've only tried cheddar and Colby-jack so far, but I'm sure other cheeses would work as well. Or use an assortment! The nutritional info is inaccurate since you don't actually eat the marinade.

8 ounces hard cheese, cut into cubes
1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/3 cup white wine vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon italian seasoning
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1 garlic clove, minced

Steps:

  • Place cheese cubes in a pint jar.
  • Mix the rest of the ingredients in a bowl or measuring cup and pour over cheese.
  • Screw lid on jar securely and shake well to coat the cheese. Let marinade 12-24 hours at least shaking and rotating jar occasionally.
  • Remove cheese from marinade and serve with toothpicks.

500 grams Apple
1 egg
125 grams Pastry flour
150 milliliters light beer
1 pinch salt
freshly ground peppers
Pastry flour
vegetable oil (for frying)

Steps:

  • Remove rind from cheese and cut cheese into bite-size cubes.
  • For the batter, whisk egg in a bowl, add flour and beer, mix until smooth and season with salt and pepper slippery. The dough should not be too thick. If necessary, add more flour or a little beer to reach desired consistency.
  • Dip cheese cubes in flour, then cover in the batter. Heat oil to 170°C (approximately 350°F). Fry battered cheese cubes in the preheated oil in portions for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. 
  • Drain on absorbent paper towel and serve while hot.
