I find these nuts very addicting. I really love the orange/spice combination. These don't last very long in my house, so I often have to double the recipe.

Yield 1 1/2 cups

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 1/2 cups walnut halves
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup water
1/2 teaspoon orange zest
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1 pinch of grated nutmeg

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a medium size heavy skillet. Heat over medium-high heat to boiling.
  • Cook, stirring constantly, until all of the liquid is evaporated and nuts are coated and sugary (approximately 5 minutes).
  • Transfer to a non-stick baking sheet; break nuts apart while still warm. Let cool.

2 cups Pecans
1 cup Almonds
1 cup Walnuts
½ cup Sugar (Granulated )
½ cup Brown sugar
1 Egg white (From large egg)
1 tbsp Cinnamon powder
½ tsp Salt
½ tsp Vanilla extract
1 tsp Water

Steps:

  • In a mixing bowl, mix together the egg white, water and vanilla extract until the mixture becomes frothy.
  • Add brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, salt and mix everything together until just combined,
  • Add all the nuts and mix everything with a spatula until they are properly coated.
  • Spread the nuts on a cookie tray lined with parchment paper. Make sure they are properly spread out and not sticking together.
  • Bake at 300 degrees for 40-45 minutes. Make sure to stir everything with a spoon every 15 minutes.
  • Once the nuts have cooled down to room temperature, pack them in a sealed airtight container and use within 1 month.
